I have tha basic flat top Armalite and couldn't be happier. The accuracy is outstanding, usually at or just under 1 MOA, if I had skills it might even do better. This is the only 308 semi rifle I have fired so I can't compare it to others but I handled many remington and DPMS rifles and found my Armalite to be a tighter gun in the works. I didn't care for the fit on my butt plate but customer service made me happy and the tight groups make me think this "basic model" deserves a quality sniper stock anyway! I have no problems recomending Armalite to anyone, you wont be disappointed.
Hi Martin and everyone. I just joined this morning. I'm looking to purchase a new ar10 very soon. Figured I'd stop in here to learn some stuff about them. Hope to show you some pics very soon!!
Thanks!

...Larue is basicly the same as armalite but more money. They use the same platform as Armalite but they tighten up the tollerances and make it a percision weapon.
That's incorrect. LaRue uses the Knight's Armament SR25/M110 pattern for it's 7.62 OBR and PredatAR rifles.
Hello Everyone, my name is Brandon and I am a huge fan of AR-15 rifles and purchased a DPMS LR .308 I am super excited to get to know more about the .308 ballistics and get into longer range shooting than I am used to. It seems from most posts that I have read that Armalite is pretty popular. I hope that my buying a DPMS wasnt a mistake.
I just purchased a DPMS LR 308 as well and had to clean and oil the gun every few rounds to break it in. Make sure you use American ammo during the break in period. I found military ammo to jamb more during this time.

LebbenB, You are correct, What I should have said is it is a simular platform as Armalite's they are not identicail. Thanks for clearing that up.
Hello everyone. Name here is James. I'm 33, ex-army, and now work for the UN in NYC. I live in PA and commute every day. I'm an avid shooter and currently suffer from BRD or black rifle disease. My latest addition to my collection is the Armalite Super SASS.
I also like old bolt guns and have a Turk Mauser, Czech VZ24 and a 1941 Mosin Nagant. I also picked up not too long ago an unissued Yugo M59/66 SKS that still has working tritium inserts.
Anyway, glad I found this forum as I had a few questions regarding my SASS.

The 417 looks interesting: 16" and 20" quick change barrel, gas piston type, conventional rifling at 1 in 11, rails everywhere. I understand it's not available yet, and I'm not wild about the "sort'a" collapsible stock, but when it is I'll definitely kick the tires.
