My name is Brian and just purchased a DPMS LR 308. Just curios, the brass ejection casing is getting jammed after 1-3 rounds no matter what clip or ammo used. The bolt ass is well lubricated is there a break in period? My other guns never had this problem.
Surely all rifles have a break-in period and you should do it with quality ammo. Even some new German and/or European surplus ammo, I was told, is best to steer clear of. I don't have the experience that some of the members here do but, it's a "magazine" you're using, not a clip. Clips are used to load certain magazines and some rifles but not the one you're shooting. Please don't take offense but that drives me nuts. Happy Thanksgiving Brian.
DPMS should list a break-in procedure in their manuals. Per DPMS, it's a 200 round process. Follow that Barrel Break-In guidelines to achieve maximum accuracy potential on the rifle.
"To achieve the best results for accuracy you should clean the chamber and bore after every round for the first 25 rounds and then every 10 rounds up to 100 rounds. It usually takes about 200 rounds per barrel for optimum accuracy."
Also, be sure to clean the bolt & carrier. Make sure there is not an obstruction on the extractor. Use quality ammo.

Describe the "Jam" a little better. Does the spent case remain completely in the chamber or does it come all the way out and hang the BCG?
Yes, where and when is the jam happening? break in peroid or not, I've never had a rifle jams that much, would this be a used rifle? any irregular markings on the spent case? have you checked the gas tube for obstructions? I have a HighPoint .45 and it jamed for the previous owner every 2-3 rounds he hated it and sold it to me for $40.00 with 5 clips and laser and holster! I polished the feed ramp, that was causing the jam and have run 2000 round through it without a hicup! sometimes the spent caase will tell the tale. Want to sell it cheap let me know!
I am currently looking to buy a AR-10 type rifle in the standard A2 configuration.
I had ordered and owned a DPMS LR308 that I waited five months for the DPMS factory to deliver, & when I received it & began shooting it, I could not wait to rid myself of that nasty beast.
I am looking for recommendations on a AR-10 type rifle that will shoot the military 7.62NATO ammo, not just commercial .308 ammo, and an AR-10 rifle that has no play or wiggle between the upper & lower halves.
I currently own & shoot a JLD PTR91 MSG90, A heavy contour target barrel DSA FAL, & a Springfield Armory M1A with heavy contour match barrel.
All three are great shooters, but I still want a very good AR-10 A2.
I don't mind direct impingment; My 1943 Swedish Ljungman & 1960 Hakim both use it, & both have been trouble free rifles.
Thank you!
I have an ARMALITE ar-10t 308 carbine that shoots 3/4 in. 100yrd. 5 shot groups with Federal Gold Medal Match 168 gr. It has worked flawlessly since day one. Fairly tight fit upper and lower. 16 in. SS barrel. Highly recommend this rifle for accurate, reliable, shooting. Uses Armalite mags only but they are well made and should last a long time. Have shot out to 300 yds. Holds group well. Trying to replicate Fed. Gold Match accuracy with my own reloads with sierra 168gr. matchking bullets, fed. primers, fed.brass, but can't seem to get right powder. Factory FGMM ammo chronos at 2450-2465 out of this rifle. I have got the fps spot on with several powders but still not the accuracy. If anyone has recipe that works well, I would love to hear of it.
Have had an Armalite A2 for years and love it. I am looking to build another rifle. I'm leaning towards cutting down a 20" chrome lined barrel to 18" then puting the SASS gas system om it. It will be a flattop upper with a MagPul CTR stock,Leupold Prizmatic optic with backup sights. This will replace my AR15.
