Thanks.
The R-25 and I didn't get along at first - before the muzzle brake and new trigger.
Put the buffer in to take the slack out of the receiver and a tactical charging handle and had a Nighforce 5.5x22x56 NXS at first and now a Leupold 8.5x25x50 LRT with Target Dot. Tried everything from 55 gr. Everything to 105 Bergers but finally settled on the 87 gr. Hornady V-Max.
After about 250 rds. down the tube it settled down with either 45 gr. H4350 or 45.0 gr. H4831.
Both shot with equal accuracy and velocity and didn't seem to be temperature sensitive. As far as accuracy - normal groups have been in the 3's to 4's but lately 3/4" is the norm. I have a Hawkeye borescope and it is showing the classical signs (dry lake bed). I can not complain about the chamber dimensions or barrel quality that the DPMS team put on the rifle originally but I am ready to bite the bullet and re-barrel.
Thanks.
Larry
I do not own an AR style rifle. I have used M-16A2, M4A1 and some foreign weapons while I was a soldier.
The time has come for me to start a collection beyond my pistol and shotgun.
I like the HK417, but I am open to becoming educated in the field of the AR-10. I will be scouring posts to get a thorough idea of people's opinions on what they like/dislike about different vendors, features, models. So thanks in advance to everyone here.
