Hello everyone, I have been a member for a while, came here more than a year ago and did an intro when I was brushing up on AR10 research in hopes of buying a rifle. Well, finally have one in process of being in my hands. This rifle:

I have never owned an AR, but I am pretty well informed after years of research and drooling until I got the cash and the right rifle in my sights. Besides a base model mossburg maverick and a Glock 40SW for personal and home defense, this is my only weapon... and for some time will have to fill any and all other roles for me. For my current purposes which is white tail deer hunting out to six hundred yards, potential future zombie killing, and fun at the range with my three sons, I believe this rifle was the perfect fit. With seven new Armalite mags and fluted barrel I believe the money was right.
(btw, I talked with Noveske last week, they are "not sure" what they are going to do with their N6 line... the 300Blackout AR15 line is going crazy and they are expanding... they have no more in stock, and very few are available anywhere I have looked. There are two or three on gunbroker.com, if you want what might become EVEN MORE sought after in AR10's now would be a good time to lay down the cash)
I would have liked a "Switchblock" fron Noveske, but since it will be probably years before I can afford the tax stamp and the can it would be essential to have because of, and the price to purchase this one (fluting was a must, hard to find, don't like aftermarket fluting, etc.) was right... I backed off that desire. The only other thing that I would have liked is the ASA side charging upper reciever. I might do that on an upper build in the future.
I noticed that in the Noveske thread here "Noveske uppers" were discussed, obviously the upper assembly was meant, but the upper reciever itself is an armalite reciever, not sure that is known here yet. Only the lower is proprietary to Noveske (and like everything they do, it is top shelf). Anyway, as I learn and time progresses and fund become available I want to get more into the building and customizing aspect of Ar10 ownership... but I wanted to start with a rifle perfect for me with no more refinement neccessary to start with. The fact that Noveske barrels are top quality and polygonal rifled, SS, as well as the modified chambering and consistant quality and accuracy, felt recoil dynamics, and "every little thing you could think of" being already done from the factory really appealed to me, and I'm sure I will be happy.
This gun is technically "used" because it had twenty rounds fired through it, but I am buying it from a law enforcement supply dealer that custom ordered it from Noveske (and waited eighteen months to get it), and will technically be the original owner. I consider it "new".
I will be strapped for money beyond the purchase of the rifle itself, but I can afford some entry level optics, armalite one pc scope mount, ammo, strap, maybe a "Grip pod" (vertical grip/bipod combo). The scope I am thinking of getting is here

with the accu-ranger reticle. Any input on that? I'm thinking the 52MM objective version of this scope might be a bit too big and almost touching, but it would be nice to have that little extra light gathering since this scope is not illuminated..? I'll be asking advice on some other specific topics, I'll try to make sure the answer is not already available, and I'll post them to the proper categories. Glad to be here, I look forward to learning.
