Hi folks! My name is Rickey and I'm another newbie to the AR10 community. I've been dabbling in AKs, and the AR10's little brother the AR15 for a bit now and decided to take the plunge. I'm hoping to learn enough to build/assemble my own AR10. Thank you Martin for creating this forum so good folks can get in on the fun. Thanks for lettin' me hang out with you guys. Hopefully I won't pester ya'll too much with my questions. Thanks! :)

Hey all,
New to the site and just recently purchased my very own DPMS AR-10 308LR. Joined the site to hopefuly gain some knowledge and see what everyone thinks of theirs and possibly figure out what i want to do with mine as far as upgrades or accessories.

Hoping to build my first one from bare upper and lower receivers! I figure if I can do it with an AR15, why not try with the "original" AR! ;)

Don't have much experience on building this rifles but there is some posts about this and they can help

I'M NOT AN expert on building AR'S but the one advise I can give you
Is this rifles are not cheap so you HAVE to pretty know what you are going
To use it for.
Paper hitter , hole maker , the two will take down game but after you have
Fun making shoots all over the paper you will want to have some thing more
Accurate.
Self experience bough one AR in 308 got to the range and Yes I was having fun
Until the guy next to me pull out a ARMALITE AR10T AND IT was I fell in love with
My wife's big sister she was beautiful and accurate the guy was punching holes on
In side the other literally.

My advise to you safe your money and get the only one.???????? I know the answer

Don't end up like me selling my RIFLE almost half for what I paid ++++ two of my
1911's.

Hi i'm also a new guy with a new expensive hobby. Never have i owned a AR of any type. Ive always wanted one but what guy really wouldnt. Went with the Armalite 10a4 carbine, In kansas to hunt whitetail has to be a .243 or larger so im hoping i can get the same range that i do with my 7mm Rem. I have a few probably basic questions for some of you can answer without much thought.

1. what range can i get out of the 16" and what kind of work is it to get a 20"-24" put on.
2. Ive read that most ppl have best luck with 168gr ammo. Here in SE kansas im limited to buying ammo at walmart and ive never really had any problems with fedreal ammo. Any ideas on where to get some the best but still good on the wallet would be helpful.
3. Need some info on breaking in the barrel. have read some on this forum but everyone has something diffrent to say. and like to know some ideas.

I pick up my AR-10 this friday from my FFL, and also did i do good payin $1200 for it brand new? tahnks to any1 that replys to my lack of know how on this gun. Oh i will send pics to this NOW FAVORITE site on the net.. Thanks guys..

And yes i know this gun is a basic model but i will be adding to it to make it a sweet looking machine.
