It can't hurt. I'm hoping the lever poping loose will stop once the metal has found its home. if it keeps needing readjustment then I'll move on, I guess I should see what burris says first but then for the price of another couple hundred rounds to see if it is reliable I can buy top tier like American defense or Larue.
It claims MOA of 1, can anyone confirm? Has 1:11.25 twist- recommended ammo for best perfomance?

My basic flat top will do it all day long with most ammo I throw at it. Mine actually gives me better groups with NATO surplus near 150 gr. than it does with either 168 or 175 match grade ammo. Odds are some handloading would solve the issue for the heavier bullets but I'm fine with 1 moa and cheaper ammo for now. The sweet part of owning an Armalite is if your rifle wont do 1 moa at any time you own it they will fix it free providing you do your part!
Keep an eye on the burris mount, mine pops open on recoil after a couple hundred rounds, a simple tension adjustment got me back on track without a problem but it took a couple fliers before I figured out what was going on. I think the metal stretches a bit with use.
Enjoy, your gonna love it!
The back one opened up today during the 30 rounds of break in.
Hello, my name is Walter. I am picking up my first a ar style .308 (DPMS Recon) on saturday. I have several ar-15's and hav always wanted a heavy caliber, i decided i better get one while the gettings good since all the gun control lunatics have fired up again over the Denver incident. I have been a lurker her for a while and this seems like a nice forum.
Hello,
Just a quick intro for myself.
After decades of California duck, pheasant, pig, and
(Nevada) deer hunting we got fed up with the politics
and taxes and moved to Florida.
Not many upland birds here(just can't relate to Snipe..)
but we sure enjoy helping control the wild pig population.
Recently put down my Marlin 45-70 to try a friends AR-10
carbine and was instantly hooked.
Setting up a new, single power scopped AR10-A4 and searching
for technical and practical info. Have a 100% 44 year old Colt SP1 but
never used outside the range.
Hello all my name is Angus
I'am new to this site and im interested in the ar-10 platform. i do not own one as of yet but i plan on building one from scratch for both biggame and coyote hunting as well as for home protection.
I'am looking for some enexpencive upper and lowers. as well as a 26-28" barrel. anyone know of a good company for these parts? any help would be very helpful.
thank you
Hey all. I am the new guy. i just got a POF lower AR10. cant wait to build it out. I'm from San Diego and now live in New Orleans the gun laws are much better here. Looking forward to learning more here. I was in the Army and had the M4, now its time for the .308.
I am just curious-is there a particular reason you want a 26 to 28 inch barrel? I ask because that is a very long barrel for an AR-10. These rifles seem to work at optimum performance with barrels from the 16 to 20 inch length, but there are some 24 inch barrels out there as well. A barrel from the 20 to 24 inch spectrum should have no problem reaching 1,000 yards if it is a good barrel...anything more is a bit more than needed.
well the reason i thought those lenghts is im interested in learning the art of sniping. and ive heard that the longer the barrel the greater the chance of reaching beyond 1000 yrds. but by all means if i heard wrong please let me know.
thats why im here to find out what works and what does not.
You don't need any more than a 24 inch barrel to reach 1,000 yards with an AR-10 type rifle. In fact, it can be done with a 20 and even a 16 inch barrel if you are a good shot.
There are some guys on this forum that could really expound on this subject...I am an "end user" type of guy...some of these guys can blow your mind with the amount of technical data they have in memory. There is a guy on this forum-screen name zfk55...he'd be the guy to ask about the optimal barrel length for the long targets.
