WOW I haven't heard that in a long time Angus, the old reason for the longer barrels that I know of was becuase you needed room to burn all the powder you had to use to get out that far, but that is not so now with the better burn rates. That is also a lot of barrel to haul around. Were it me and with what you want to do most I would go would be 22 and then I don't think your going to find one cheap. am not sure but I think anything over 20 is going to be made up one at a time.
I have take Elk and Moose with a 16 and it did just fine, I am going up to my sister place in Wy to try for a couple antlope here pretty soon. Those shot for don't come easy or close my best there was 120ish yards with a muzzel loader and took all day get in there.
so I am hoping for better with the 10.
No doubt about it, ArmaLite is the way to go for an AR in .308. Mine has been accurate and reliable right out of the box. You cant go wrong with ArmaLite. Welcome to the forum.
Howdy sir,
I'm building/training my Armalite AR 10 flat top for the same thing.
Here in Texas Hogs are a big problem. I want to shoot from 200-300 yards and then put on a Texas sized BBQ.
Welcome to the forums buddy. There are a lot of folks in here that really know their stuff.
Bought an AR10 A4 to shoot some 3-gun.
I just took it to the range today and had a blast. I shot with a Truglo red dot and will have to get a scope for some distance shooting. Totally loved the gun!
