Fellas, I own about 6 AR-10s in a varity of calibers and configerations. My experience with the AR-10 is in very high regaurds. I have owned many AR-10 rifles and I absolutly love the gun. It is my favorite hunting rifle, from Hogs to varmints, deer etc. it is my go to. I have three AR-10 in 243, one in 338 fed, one in 260 rem, and one in 308, And I am curently working on another 308 to bring my total to 7 AR-10, I also own a few AR-15, 7 of them going on 8. Also I reload all my own ammo and I have never had an issue with the AR platform.

Yes I built two of my 243's from bottom up and one i built with complete factory assembled upper and built the lower myself. I have pretty much built all my AR gun. I built my 338 fed from bottom up. My 260 rem upper was factory assembled with me building the Lower. I have two stage trigger in all of them. I also built my 308 from bottom up. I have magpul PRS stocks on all of them.

Hello all,

Recently found a new love for hunting and general outdoor shooting. This coming year in 2011 will be my first real hunting experience. I have had a Glock 23 for about 2 years so shooting is addicting!
Ive come to this forum to up my knowledge in the "AR" world and research my build. Currently just ordered my mid-length RRA Lar-8 A4 about 2 weeks ago, RRA is 60-90 days out so Im hanging in there lol.
Already found tons of useful info on this site and look forward to more.

New guy here, been shooting since I was eight, mostly pistols. Have been out of shooting for the last 10 years, just getting back into it. I ordered an AR 10T the other day just waiting on it and trying to figure out what scope to get. I was thinking about about the Viper PST 4-16 FFP.

Glad to join everyone. Just purchased a ArmaLite AR-10!! Haven't got a chance to abbot yet but this Saturday is looking promising. Added a Trinicon TR20-2 scope wondering what everyones thoughts are on my purchase for a newbe? I can see now I'm going to have to get a extended charging handle with the scope. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Wecome newbies, AR-Freak, 39-ret and brown 76. Glad to have you aboard.
Brown- nice scope on a nice gun. An alternative for the extended charging handle would be a higher mount such as LaRue's LT135. That will also give you clearance for mounting a fold down rear sight under the scope, such as the new Midwest sights that BMS has pictures of on this sight.

Good call Fox...Yes you can go with a higher mount, which I would suggest but that is up to you....FoxHunter is correct in that the LT-135 or my new one the ADM Recon H with a 2" offset will give you enough clearance for the charging handle and or a rear sight....
Fox...thanks for jumping in...the rear sight that I posted isn't new...the fold back one for the gas block is...
and what fox was talking about is the SPLP sight from MI...it lays less than a 1/2 inch when folded down...so you can most likely go with a lower mount if preferred..as Fox was asking about in the other thread...so the "extended" charging handle is not really necessary unless you really want it...
Thanks again Fox...

Hello all,

I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. Although I am new to the AR-10, I have numerous different firearms. As a former Marine (0352, 8541), I wanted to take advantage of a 1000 yard range in my area. I will be posting a proposed build later this evening and welcome your input.

Take care,
Ry

Greetings to all!

I'm a new owner of an AR-10 SuperSASS and am looking to learn as much as I can about this rifle and achieve my ultimate goal of hitting 1MOA @ 700yards with a semi-auto rifle.

My rifle is new. As a matter of fact, it's still sitting inside the factory gun case and waiting for my initial cleaning and safety inspection. My scope (SuperSniper 5-20x50 HD), GG&G rings, Atlas bipod, Accu-Shot monopod and other accessories are on order and should be arriving within the next 30 days. There are a lot of items on backorder.

I'm not new to firearms or the AR platform. I'm a big fan of the AR platform , as well as the 1911 pistol. I keep my gun safe stocked pretty well. I don't think I have a free spot left on any of the racks or shelves.

I'm a "practical tactical" guy and have focused on combat pistol, rifle, and shotgun. For the last year I've been working really hard to increase my experience with long range shooting. I'm pretty comfortable with my bolt action .308. So much, in fact, I sold it and got this AR-10 SuperSASS. I felt I needed another challenge and was told that shooting a semi-auto vs bolt rifle, is a whole new ball game. :)

I'm also a NRA Certified Firearms Instructor in 5 disciplines and have been involved in the firearm industry/sport since 1993.

Currently I'm employed with the United States Postal Service.
