Hi! My name is Randy. i live in the Dallas Ft. worth area. Im prior Marine Corps and love to shoot. I have owned a DPMS LR AP4 .308 for about 5 years and am looking to add some upgrades. im thankful for this forum and any ideas or experiences that all of you share.

Great site for shooters with Exquisite tastes. LOL, no really. My first .308 was a Freedom Arms G3 rifle I still shoot it all the time here in Northeastern Oklahoma. I took a small buck with it last year. The receiver on that rifle is a stainless steel casting and it is a job humping that thing. I decided it was time to step up so I found a great deal on a near-new in the box Bushmaster BAR-10 Great rifle. feeds with Metric FAL mags. very accurate and much lighter.

My new favorite HOG gun. Maybe I will pull a black bear tag this year.

Hello AR-10 world! I will have my first .308 rifle completed this week and decided it wouldnt hurt to join a forum and get some feedback from other enthusiasts. Im machining my own lower from 7050 billet and assembling it with armalite components. Luckily I'm a machinist so I have the skills and tools to make anything I can draw. I will have my receiver completed tomorrow and my parts should be here on wednesday, so I hope to have a range report next weekend. I will be getting a hard coat anodize finish, but I want to leave it with a machined finish. Here is a pic as to what is done right now. Just one more operation on a 4th axis and its finished! I have spent so much time on this project and can't wait for it to be done.

Looks good so far. did you make any improvements of your own? Such as larger magazine Bevel etc.. I grew up in a Machining environment and have done a lot of this type of stuff as well. There is a ton of steps in what you've done. Pretty ambitious. Cool project.

I kept it basically a replica. Except the mag well is machined along with every other feature. Im skeptical on whether to anodize it as is or bench everything smooth. I do have some engraving in mind though. Ill keep it updated.
