In Southeastern New England where I live, the snow's finally gone but the temps dip into the mid 20's at night. We did have about an inch of snow last week but it melted quickly.
I've lived in the country all my life. Lot's and lot's of forest where I live and for the most part quiet. I watched 60 or so turkey's passing through my yard heading over to a neighbors field. I figured the coyotes would kill them off quickly but I was wrong, the turkeys not only survived they've thrived.
My wife bugged me to go to New York city for a weekend 2 years ago.....I now understand why people want to blow it up.....I was there for only 2 days and felt the same way...
Turkeys, particularly in a flock, are tough critters. I have seen them keep deer away from bait piles, and even challenge humans sometime. If they stick together they will be ok. Still have two feet of snow on the ground here, with 14 inches on the way. This winter has been brutal, the worst I can remember. I don't know how many more like this I want to take.
The snow is almost gone here in VT. Just a couple of patches here and there. I have been watching the deer get more and more active as the days get warmer. I am just hoping the sugaring season isn't too short this year. It's running pretty good right now but if the nights get too warm that will come to a screeching halt. The ice in the Connecticut River finally let go. I love to watch the force of it moving downstream. As I get older I am liking the Winters less and less. I don't know if I'd ever leave but it is getting pretty tempting.
I am with you there VT, It is getting tougher and tougher to deal with winter. We still have a lot on the ground, and the lakes are frozen solid. But 60 degree weather, it is melting quick. I like the freedom and beauty of the north woods, I am getting tired of the energy costs and work of heating with wood. Bend Oregon is looking tempting.
April 15, 11 - 15 inches of snow forecast for tomorrow. Got the wood boiler filled, firewood brought in, and the snow blower and snow plow ready.....I WANT TO MOVE TO ARIZONA! Not really, but I am sick of this.

Looks to be like another real fine day arriving over here.

Going to contact the person in charge and get My range dues paid up, then, I`ll be able to get out and doo some shoooting. :twothumbs:
Until then, I`ll be in the garage, disasembling and scrubbing some more firearms, cant work on no vehicles, Dr.s orders, so, I must be doing something.  :rotfl:
Besides, some of these firearms is what I had inherited or picked up at some very reasonable costs, so, they must be scrubbed so I know how they are, inside and out. Sort of like starting all new again. :busted: :whip: :rotfl:
