Hey foxhunter, we're almost neighbors except I live on the Missouri side of the Mississippi. Tried southern Ill. for awhile and had to escape to sanity. We are back in the hills with no close neighbors and live in the no coverage zone of wireless internet. Today half the farm is underwater but we don't farm those areas so it doesn't matter. Great hunting and fishing and at night I look out the window and see only 3 lights in the miles of land around us. The nearest town was described as being in a time warp with all the locals speaking german.
I'm on the Missouri side also  , we might even be neighbors, I can only see 5 lights on a good night. My back yard is a large 20 acre lake and the only thing that keeps me up at night are all the noise from the ducks and geese, but I would not have it any other way. I thought German was the language! now in town it's getting to be Spanish, I try to avoid it as much as possible only try and get there for what little groceries we need and to run the business. Raise my own cattle and chickens, just got done planting the garden about 1/4 acre so we really are pretty self sufficient.
Please do let us know what you find out with the primer issue.

AKAI I'm very much like you and find everything I need on the farm. Went into the post office a short time ago and a guy asked me who I was. 300 people in the town and not much is secret. I told him I was Geri's (my wife) husband. Then he asked how long I lived in the area since he's never met me before and my response was nine years. I'm guessing you are south of me. I constructed a pretty good size wetlands several years ago plus have several lakes and I can't compete with Ill.s Oakwood Bottoms drawing ducks and geese.
Not a rant, just some good perspective. How's the muley population out there this year?
The deer populations has been down for a while. There are deer there, just noe as many.
Used to see quite a few dead ones on the road traveling over to Billings, now there might be two or three. I have to go to Billings on Monday, I`ll get a head count, or should I say, a blotch count for some of them.
Oh Yeah, Uncle Buck passed on about five this evening.

Bless him may he enjoy where he is in peace.

We're in S. WI, right on the NAFTA Hwy/Heroin corridor of I-39/51. The conditions have gotten so bad we cannot sell the house for more than $40K, even though it is "assessed" at $110K.
Getting ready to do a work transfer to get out, and either going to the Iowa side of the Mighty Miss. or way up north in WI. Leaning to Iowa as their tax systems are significantly lower than WI's....anybody here in NE Iowa got some input?

The tax system is brutal in Wisconsin. I am considering becoming a Minnesota resident, but I don't trust their legislature.
