I don't have and Armalite, just a DPMS that a friend gave me as a retirement gift, but it does the trick for now. We have a range up near my home that an old shooter put up years ago. it has everything from 25 to 1k yard targets. It makes life nice for a retired guy like me.
Having use of a 1K range like that would be so sweet! I'll be looking forward to hearing your reloading results, 300 yds is as far as I can push things anywhere near home.
:welcome: and :usa:
Hey folks, just checking in after an absence for a while. I am still looking for a way to get an upper receiver/barrel assembly for my lower. Want an Armalite AR10 U10TBF. Anyone out there know a dealer who can work a deal with aCHL/Firearms Instructor who used to work security and LE but now is on a fixed income due to health reasons. I CAN make regular payments its just a large deposit that most people want that I have trouble with. Anyone with info on someone who can work a deal with payments without a large deposit i would appreciate this.
The range is very nice. It was originally homestead farm for the Hiller family. Back in the 80's the house had had been abandoned for years and since it sat in a very narrow valley, it was not farmed. The current owner, Henry Hiller, was big into black rifle and competition pistol shooting. he decided to turn the property into a range. he made metal target frames which cardboard targets could be clamped to , 2 at 25yds and 1 each from 50 to 400yds and put out 600 and 1000 yard metal gongs. It has been used by all sorts over the years, form the guys at ATK trying out new loads, law enforcement, to the local shot-fiends like myself. Most every time i go there there is nobody there and its a comfortable place to shoot ( just make sure and let the local sheriff office know if you shoot anything "faster than normal"), with a built shooting table and oil drums of sandbags, boxes of free targets, and even tan old rocking chair for hunting day when you want to be comfortable when shooting your Buck. Henry is getting a lot older now and has said he can't do much of the upkeep on the place, so a couple of us locals do most of the work now. We have even added some AR500 swing-out torso targets. I hope to construct something similar when i get some property soon. If any of you are going to be up this way, drop me a note and i can take you up there.

Ola folks.... I'm a new guy here.... My nephew passed away couple of months ago... Peace be with him... He left me his AR10 Super SASS and kit with some ammo...... He only had it for a month.. Shot maybe a session or two.....
I've been a shooter since I was a kid.... Always been more of a handgun guy although I have few big bore rifles... This Super SASS to be used per its design envelop it more technical than I'm used to... So that's why I'm here...
I'm fortunate to have a thousand yard range a few miles down the road from me.. I've had it out for a couple of sessions..... Still in the familiarity stage and trying to be more constant with it.... On a rest or the bipod.. It's an easy gun to shoot.. However offhand I find it way ungainly with so much weight forward... Bloody heavy long gun for sure......
Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear about your nephew. He must have liked you a lot. That is a very nice rifle he left you. It isnt made for freehand,or off hand, its made to be the most accurate semi auto rifle over long distances from a rest that it could possibly be for that caliber. There area good number of knowledgeable people on this forum, so feel free to ask questions. And enjoy his gift.
Thank you sir...... I already like it.... It's a very cool rifle... Very different than anything I've had in the past.... Although I had a AR15 in the early 70's... This is really different.... My AR15 was stunningly accurate... Even with battle sights a hundred yards.......
I'm a shooter and collector. Soon, I'd like to start competing. In particular I'm practicing with my DPMS LR-308 Classic to shoot in NRA High-Power with it as a service rifle. Well, I'll have to change a few parts back to they're original configuration for it to be legal as a service rifle, but that's no big deal. I'd actually prefer to have an Armalite AR10 A2, but don't currently have the money.
