I've spent the last week resubmitting the same information over and over with nobody knowing a thing. I'm starting to get a little hot  Trisha emails claiming she is waiting for Heather to respond to a question, Heather emails and says she is waiting for Trisha to respond to her question.
I call them both and ask if they think it is funny or something. They both apologize, again, and promise I will know something in 24 hours, they are just trying to get me the best offer they can :censored: . I made sure they both understood my confidence level in what they or anyone in the department had to say. I really doubt I'll fit in very well, I :censored: hate lazy :censored: jerks that don't do their jobs!!!!! Stupid :censored: government!

Hang tough JT and don't let your temper show at all. It's one thing to get frustrated but a whole different can O worms to let it show when dealing with people who could potentially hold your future in their hands.

It was pretty crazy for me when I started with the position I now hold and even once inside it's pretty frustrating but the more you push, the more they seem to push back and the tougher it gets.

I know it probably sound a little corny but ya gotta just say a prayer, do what they ask and ask the Good Man upstairs to help you get through the foolishness without letting your own frustration show through what is normally an even keeled nature (of course, you could be a total whacko but I'm giving you some leeway here... ).

It'll pay off later.

Tis far better to quit a job you don't want anymore than to lose one you almost had.

The biting sarcasm paid off! I now have a documented July 8th start date! They even managed to add a pay grade! :twothumbs: I should have let them know I was pissed months ago! Looks like I'll be headed to Sterling Virginia to meet the bosses and then Sevierville Tennessee to meet some more bosses and then get a regular job assignment from there. Without the thoughts, prayers, and solid advice of all my AR-10T friends I doubt this would have happen. Thank you all, I'll do my best to see your tax dollars that go through my job are spent wisely! :usa:

It wasn't an hour after the email when I got a call from a job recruiter about a local construction supervisors position. He asked for work references and said if they check out he can offer almost $15 grand a year more with benefits. Odds are I'll stick with the government work but it is refreshing to see things open up a bit, I've only been looking hard since July 2007 B) Life, what a ride!

Over my entire career, one of the things I am most proud of is that I did my best to see that the taxpayer got the best value for there money I could give.

JT, In my years as a Prgram Manager and flying about 350,000 miles per years, being TDY 52 weeks a year and I did that because I felt that I as the boss should be out overseeing and managing all my projects. I will say that other PM's rarely traveled instead they had project managers come to them at a staggering cost. I had 26 separate projects going on software engineering going on in multiple locations, training going on all over the world. When my boss asked "why do you work so hard, why not have them just come to see you?" I said, SIR its the taxpayers money not ours".

Hope you always keep that attitude, but I assure you, NOT all, in fact very few in the govt see it that way...

Spent the morning at DOT HQ in Sterling Va. Not what I expected. It started out like I thought, filling out more paperwork. I joked with the lady asking her if she would have on the road by noon :P She laughed and said no I would most likely be there a week taking classes to get my government credit card and such. After the paperwork she gave me a brisk tour of the facility introducing me to 20 or so people that I couldn't name now. She then handed me off to the division head. He had to tell me a bunch of rules and check some boxes then surprised me by telling me I would be in Arkansa for the next year. The next level down supervisor then took over and surprised me again by telling me I should be back on the road by noon! The next two hours was mass information overload for me, took two trips to my van to load all the paperwork, safety equipment, computer, and and other various electronic gadgets. If someone told him they couldn't do something right away he either asked more firmly or said fine, he will do it later then. He had me on the road by 11:45 but told me not to get to Arkansa much before midday on Thursday  I don't know exactly where in Arkansa but I guess I have a couple days to figure it out. I think I'm going to like working for this guy B) No BS, just make it happen.
I spent 2002 and 2003 working in Arkansa so it will be like visiting an old friend :usa:

When did they start putting roads in Arkansas??

Great deal JT. I'm glad to hear you are back in the mix again and you sound like, for the most part, you are liking it. That's good stuff man...

I've been thru Arkansas myself a few times years ago and rode through the Ozarks which was, for some of the time, pretty interesting...
