It's a good sign-background checks are resource intensive.
I have a phone interview in a couple weeks-this thread helped.

That link about situational interviews was a God send for me. As soon as I realized he was going to ask these type questions the pressure went down a notch knowing I had answers ready. Now some of the follow-up questions had me feeling like they were going to try to bust me for ripping them off on past federal contracts I managed  , but then they wrote the contract with a flaw, not me!
Update; The federal government is painfully slow! :banghead:
Last week they asked permission to check my references, like I put them down just to tease them......
Got home today to find an email full of papers to fill out for a security clearance check? I did mention I had a fairly high TS for a bit on my resume but they never mentioned a thing till now......don't know if I want to go down that road or not, I've got issues with giving up privacy and rights.........maybe it's just a formality. At least I know they are serious if they are going through all the hoops. So far there are 4 people involved in the process.....in the civilian world the more people the faster you expect things done.... guess there has to be a negative for every positive......damn I wish they would just make a call, do they need me or not!
They sent me more papers to fill out, one was an application for a federal ID. The lady from HR called with a few questions that I couldn't answer, like where I was posted? I told her I hadn't been offered the job yet so I didn't know, she said she would ask my supervisor??????? At the beginning of the call she said she was "glad it worked out" and asked when I was moving????? I'm hoping she knows something I don't but I've never been one to count the bird till it is dead and in the bag!
Could be assigned to any federal lands in the eastern half of the country. I plan on keeping home base in Iowa though, if they ever get around to offering the job!
