Glad you got it. I like the ACOG Trijicon for its pure simplicity and ruggedness, one of the best scopes EVER! Its a scope you can hand down to your kids and they can use it like you did...

The two reticles I've found most useful in an ACOG are the chevron and the BDC. The chevron is the quicker of the two. At shorter ranges, simply put the chevron center mass and blast away. For finer, more deliberate shots use the point of the chevron. The BDC reticle is tuned for a 62 gr bullet, but works well with any weight out to about 200-300m.

A quick word about color. The least expensive ACOGs will have a yellow reticle. The reticle tends to wash out in bright sunlight. Red or preferably green is the way to go.

I very nearly goofed on that. I had a TA11J-A in the cart proceeding to checkout when I did a double take. Amber? Huh? So I removed it and added the TA11J (no dash) which is the red reticle for a $75.00 premium.

ETA is 5-10 working days. This is our first Trijicon product ever, so I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

:I-agree:

Wonder if reticle color is THE factor in the price diff?????

I have the green BDC and like it...I do find the green does fade out in green foliage, thinking I should have gone red, wonder if it can be easily changed????

Yup. Folks avoid yellow like the plague, so they tend to be less expensive. Call Trijicon. If they can replace the tritium insert on my TA-01, I'm pretty certain they can change the color of the reticle.

The TA11J has a red fiber and the TA11J-G has a green fiber. Tritium has no color, so maybe it's just a matter of changing the fiber optic.

Reply from Trijicon:

If your model/Reticle is offered in red then we can change it for you.

You may send in the optic for inspection. Pending inspection, we can service the optic. Currently, the cost is between $253.00 and $570.00 depending on the size of the optic for the illumination. allow 4-6 week turnaround time.

Egad! If it's more than the $253 estimate for your ACOG you could probably sell it on GunBroker and get a new one for less money. Not to mention that if it's a few years old the tritium capsule starts to go bad. I think 5 years is about the life of that feature.

I have seen some articles that say green is better for low light conditions, and I have been in bright light conditions where red would wash out completely. I held a serious debate with myself before I picked the red reticle, but red is more applicable to my mission.

This thing is petty slick. With both eyes open I see the red cross at all times. I need to read up on Bindon aiming.

I wondered if Trijicon had quit putting biblical verses on their scopes. I am happy to say that they have not! I got MT5:16.
