The rifle is fine from the bench as far as the scope location, my biggest issue is the poor set-up of the benches at my local range, no room to get alongside the tables and no adjustment for the seat. I have to get into an awkward position so after a few groups I get back spasms and lose any accuracy hopes.

WOW ... I have never seen a range set up like that. Looks extremely cramped at best. All outdoor ranges I've been to here are totally open. Problem here is too many damn mosquitoes.

silver78 wrote: JT great build story. Thanks for taking us through the build experience with you. Two questions.
1 What if anything would you do differently?
2 What parts do you still need to buy and add on?
1. The only thing I can think of is going with a heavier barrel profile then having it fluted to shed the extra weight of the heavier profile. I like to shoot fast so it heats up fast and cools slow now.
2. Eventually it will get an ambi safety and BUIS in FDE. Maybe another panel kit for the handguard, I've got enough in black to fill it up but like the FDE trim look. Might get an FDE mag release just to complete that theme.
Next build will be a light 5.56 midlength carbine, already have the SLR comp and ordered a lightweight BCG from d. wilson today so it has a cap and a heart already!
Awesome pic's JT !!!, looks like you put a LOT of thought into that one. It almost looks like it wants to stretch out. XLR Industries has great stretched chassis's but they live in the Remington 700 playpen with the other bolt-actions.
