Dustin from X-Caliber called Friday afternoon and told me I could ship it back if I wanted or try to clean the threads up myself. If I try it myself and it doesn't work they will still take it back. He also told me to mention this when I order another barrel and he would make sure to take good care of me
Tonight I cleaned up the threads with a needle file and threaded my brake right on...now to get the rail to fit.......
Getting it done JT, that's good to see. BTW my son is on the payroll, will update you on RS when he gets to it. He has got a few months before he gets there.
Got most of the parts on or fitted. The magpul SL stock is a sweet one, light, solid, with no wiggle when locked. The bolt locks back on an empty mag and it cycles dummy rounds without issue. had to let it fly a couple times to get the first battery lock up but after that she locked right up. Couldn't quite get the handguard lined up, at 30 FtLbs it started to move a little in my vise so I'll get it in Dads, monster 1920's patent bench vise tomorrow and finish it off.

Got the first 40 rounds down range today, short stroked every time. I think the gas port may be undersized but I'm having a hard time figuring out what the correct size should be. On the plus side the accuracy was good. Here is the last 20 rounds of break-in, cleaned between every shot and treated with gun juice and HBN. This was Freedom Munitions remanufactured 175 gr. match. Might have been better but the wind was whipping the flimsy political yard sign I used for a target stand at 50 yards.

Akai, ever drill a gas port? I've got to get more gas or less mass.....not sure what way to go but I'm thinking a larger port will be the cheapest approach.
