Mount not in...45 minute drive...they're gonna mail it.
Upper sent to AL for rail alignment.
Have decided to proceed with the full break-in as suggested by AL. I may stop short depending on cleaning results and shot grouping. Still intend to lap my brushes.
Played with the scope...270 clicks elevation, 144 windage. Both mechanically zeroed for now.
Have a question/concern about the Atlas. I was under the impression the legs would be as solid at extension as when retracted. They're able to flop around when extended as if they needed an interior bushing to keep the outer leg centered.
Any one?
I have movement with my Atlas when the legs are folded out and extended but I wouldn't say they flop around, they have a bit of tension. You may want to call or email them about it;

I don't have access to it or the instructions right now but I thought there was some ability to adjust tension for the cant and pan features, website says the "knurled knob" will adjust the preload.......

just pick your model and then look under the "more information" tab at the bottom.
The issue is, I'm able to move the feet back-n-forth, side-to-side, in a circle a 1/4" at full extension.
My Versa-Pod, a lower-tiered product, has noticeably less movement and my Barret has only 1/16" movement.
Everything else about the Atlas is outstanding, but I can't abide a sloppy fitment of the leg extensions. Unless something's wrong with mine, it's negligent.
They basically said the issue is normal and was corrected with the BT46...aside from suggesting I take it up with the dealer from whom I made the purchase.
So I replied with more questions like, "what amount of play was on the BT46 when extended" and "could I get it without the QD lever".
For $80 bucks less, price of the QD lever, I can screw the thing on/off w/o too much inconvenience. I have no foreseeable need to remove it on a regular basis. However, the BT46 isn't offered in a non-levered version for rail attachment. :banghead:
I think I'm gonna end up affecting a mechanical solution for the BT10 on my own. If it works, I'll be happy to pass it on tho' you seem okay with yours.
Seems odd..... I just don't recall much play between inner and outer legs on mine, I'll check when I'm home for Christmas, can't have any of my girls with me here in the peoples republic of Massachusetts...... I load it pretty good when I use it so maybe I just never noticed.
I was good with no QD until I got the Sig PM400. The addition of the ADM QD gave me just enough clearance to fold the legs back without a hassle, otherwise the rubber feet rubbed on the mag well when I folded the legs back.
Yeah, check it out.
Mine's fine when collapsed, which is probably the height used most often but I haven't got that far yet. Most likely, I will have found a fix by the time you get home.
Merry Christmas!
Mine sees the most use on the second notch, if it has play it can't be much, I'm a little anal about expensive kit like the Atlas. I don't mind spending good money but expect the fit and finish to be good........look forward to hearing what you come up with for a fix.
