I have one of the 40 watt plasma rifles on back order
Range report when you get it in.
It MIGHT be that the new company sees this and wants to head to court to get Armalite defined or not as a icon. Harley Davidson did same and lost...but that was the good news. Then they went AFTER all those who were using things like HD, HOG, etc etc and said pay up for using our name of cease! And YES there were some very old MC shops that had to change their names.
A better example is Colt's suing Bushmaster over the use of the term "M4" to sell AR carbines.
In this case Colt sued because M4 was a model. Kinda like Chevy suing Chrysler because they called the Viper a Corvette.
The only major change I see as a potential dark cloud on the horizon would be the new guys moving to phase out B models entirely. The haters have always harshed on the Armalite magazine and when brand choices are discussed, it is the biggest non issue brought to the discussion. During the peak of the panic buying, gen2 mags were only marginally delayed by comparison, and never saw the level of gouging and screwing that pmags did. IF this did happen, and they continued to produce gen2 mags, then it could mean even better mag availability for us B model owners since the next generation is getting theirs elsewhere.
As long as armalites quality remains, this customer is going to be loyal.
I would have really liked to see Armalite pull out of Illinois. Never cared for the fact that they reap the employment benefits from Armalite and others while having some very strict & rather crazy gun control laws.
Happy for those employed that they will not have to relocate.
The sale was a package deal. Along with all the copyrights, patents, and trade marks. The building, machinery, and property was purchased also.
This way the factory would still stay in Illinois without the people loosing jobs.
So for now, as I see it. It will be business as usual. Just a shift in power.
Thanks and keep your eye on state and local laws, there may be a move in AR's future...at the TOP as in NUMBER 1 weapon to be banned by the feds (and yes I have seen the official list) is the "AR 10".
