I just got an email from someone in the Industry (very Reliable Source)
who informed me via this email that ArmaLite has sold it's Self to SAC or more commonly known as Surgeon Rifles...IS IT TRUE...
I have not heard of this as of yet, not that being the time line it is public knowledge as of yet...and most likely won't be on my 6 o'clock news on my Local Station...but the question Being...IS it True...
I (in a Million Years) thought Westrom would have Never done this...not that (if True) I am going to sell my Rifles PDQ...but as one of the Leaders in the Independent Industry...and how ArmaLite has Held on to it's Name, Defended it, and gone Beyond what most companies would have to Keep their Company...I really thought that he would never Sell it...
Again I don't know if this is entirely Accurate...I hope ArmaLite will sound off on this....to let us know what is going on...and How it may Effect AR10T.com...
BMS....

ArmaLite is Acquired by Strategic Armory Corps

Phoenix, AZ July 23, 2013 – Strategic Armory Corps (“SAC”) announced today that it has acquired ArmaLite, Inc. ArmaLite is a leading manufacturer of a complete line of semiautomatic rifles, including the M15 and AR-10 lines, and an expanding line of advanced bolt action rifles in a wide range of calibers from .308 Winchester through .300 Win Mag, .338 Lapua, and .416 Barrett to the massive AR-50A1 .50 caliber rifle. Mark Westrom, the seller of ArmaLite, will remain as an investor in SAC and will serve on its board of managers.
The ArmaLite Division of the Fairchild Engine and Aircraft Company was the original developer of what has become known simply as the “AR”. In fact, “AR” actually stands for ArmaLite. There have been many variations of the original rifle, and today’s ArmaLite produces some of the highest quality firearms in the market. ArmaLIte will continue to operate out of its facility in Geneseo, Illinois which houses approximately 90 personnel.
Strategic Armory Corps manufactures precision bolt action rifles under the name Surgeon Rifles, high quality firearm suppressors under the name AWC Silencers, and match grade ammunition.
“ArmaLite is a tremendous addition to our group of outstanding companies and broadens our product line so we can better meet the needs of our customers”, said Mark Johnson, SAC President and CEO. “The history of Mark Westrom over his 19 years of leading ArmaLite will provide a wealth of industry knowledge to our leadership team and allow us to further expand our ability to meet the ever increasing demands for the highest quality products by our customers and the marketplace.”

I don't think this will affect very much in the short term. Longer term, I wonder if SAC will keep the Armalite stamp or go a different direction with the brand. I'm also pretty confident that SAC will honor the Armalite warranty for the foreseeable future.

Hope they will honor the warranty for life! That was a big factor in choosing an Armalite. Now I'm not sure if I should order that SPR soon or not, might wait and see if they change much. Then again maybe I should get it before they have a chance to change anything! I want a rifle made by the same people that put my AR-10 together!

I also don't see any negative impact to our website. While we focus primarily on Armalite rifles, we're also more than welcoming to those who have other makes of rifle. If anything, this could be a positive for us going forward as one of the foremost repositories of knowledge for big block ARs on the web. And knives. And pistols. And revolvers. And reloading. And phased plasma rifles in the 40-watt range.

Interesting:

Hopefully they will take AR to new heights, which in my mind is why they bought it...

There are only a FEW, VERY few ICONs in this world:

Kleenex

XEROX

Jeep

Coke

and I believe AR as in Armalite.

What an ICON is in this and its legal context is something whose name has become ubiquitous. Like hand me a Kleenex or go Xerox that. This is also seemingly the case when someone says "I bought a new AR", they are not saying they bought an Armalite, they just bought a AR. As you can see being an ICON has some very strong advantages and at the same time lots of downsides.

It MIGHT be that the new company sees this and wants to head to court to get Armalite defined or not as a icon. Harley Davidson did same and lost...but that was the good news. Then they went AFTER all those who were using things like HD, HOG, etc etc and said pay up for using our name of cease! And YES there were some very old MC shops that had to change their names.

I PERSONALLY feel Armalite is a way undervalued company. Its like Jeep was for most of its life. Same goes for Corvette. They were both LOW production autos (<100,000 units) and while the most profitable per unit due to low production they added little to companies looking to sell millions of cars. Both hung on by the very skin of their teeth for many years, today both are world class and while still not major contributors to the overall company bottom line (as measured by pure dollars) they bring far more than can be stated in dollars alone. In fact both Jeep and Corvette are worth more than the rest of the product lines of the the company itself.

Cowboy you are right and I think Mark Westrom saw that years ago.
For six guns, Colt used to be the Icon. For AR's its Armalite. For Surgeon Rifles, what a flagship brand!

Range report when you get it in.

A better example is Colt's suing Bushmaster over the use of the term "M4" to sell AR carbines.

Just great... :S
I guess its time to start BACK ordering a butt load of parts . To be honest, its been long over due for all my firearms. Its time to get all the firing pins, extractors, and etc.
I never assume a newly bought company will uphold existing warranties, especially for life.
