Our owner has begun work on building our "Members Only" area.

What this will do is allow us all to post links and information publicly to all "members" of the Members Club but it will not be visible to googlers and "passersby" who are just looking for free links and info about the items we all need to survive like magazines, ammo and exclusive deals for us all.

Stay tuned guys and as he finalizes the new section, their MAY be a standard that members will need to meet to gain entrance to is such as a simple "post count" requirement so people can't just join and immediately gain access to it and then take off with our valued info.

News members will need to contribute to the forum by posting and taking "legitimate" part in discussions and apply for membership as will we all.

At least, the post count requirement is one of MY hopes anyway but that is of course up to Mlotziii who has final say on everything of course.

Stay tuned though guys and please keep PMing info as you get it so all of our good resources aren't burned up in a DAY by googlers who are just here to TAKE information and not SHARE anything with us all.

I'm not prejudice - just loyal - as I know many of you guys share my feelings about.

I'm excited about this new section and thank you M for making it happen... :thumbs:

If you go to the "index" tab and scroll down, you will see the "Members Area" although it is not ready to be posted in yet.

With times the way they are, loyalty and keeping info close to the cuff is essential and this will be a great asset for us to share info without worrying about non members buying out our resources before solid members get a chance to see the info.

This is AWESOME news for us all and I'm very grateful to Mlotziii for making it happen... :)

And by the way, I don't know what kind of impact it will have and MAY depend on what this "platform" will support as far as what will "qualify" a member into the "members area" but it would be nice to see any input you guys have as far as that is concerned.

I would prefer that people could not join, not post ANYTHING and just walk right into the "members club" and at least SOME kind of input would be required for admittance but again, that is up to M and what can be done.

Your thoughts on it may help him decide though depending on what his hopes are as well.

What do you think guys?

I really like the post count. having owned a forum no shortage of members logging on to try sell/by stuff at post #1. Got to be a member in good standing and that to me is making a contribution by posting to discussion threads. I would block off the for sale etc areas till you have hit some level of posts, even 10 posts is fine...

I was thinking 25 but of course, that's just what "I'm" thinking and not necessarily what matters...lol

I feel they also need to be contributing posts as well and not just just a bunch of crap designed to gain entrance.

I mean, we're not storing gold or anything but if a guy shows up in the middle of the night and makes 10 posts in the Random Images thread, then no, I do not feel he should be granted access the very next day.

Other guys however who have very low post counts but DO contribute when they DO post should also not have to suffer so I think there will need to be some discretion of the "approvals" button perhaps.

But of course, like I said, it's not me that has final say so thanks for the input Cowboy. Your message is always a good one.

I agree with the post count, the more the better. I could see an exception for people in the industry. I would appreciate hearing more from people like Uncle ArmaLite. We could miss some interesting ideas by cutting out the guys trying to sell stuff, on the other hand I know exactly what Cowboy is referring to, some of them are like spam you have to sort through, thankfully I've never noticed much of that here....... I guess this means I'm undecided and agreeable to all sides. :side: Thanks for all your work guys! :usa:

I think as far as just guys stopping in to sell stuff, I don't see any real problem with keeping the "For Sale" areas open since that has not been a big issue anyway and you're right JT, we don't want to miss out on possible private sales of stuff. We also want OUR guys to be able to openly sell things at their own discretion as well and if they PREFER it go strictly to a member then fine but they should have the option to sell it either publicly or privately.

What THIS are will be for is for when guys bump into links or phone numbers for ammo, mags, a GREAT deal on a rifle or other things that we don't want outsiders walking away with before our members have even gotten home from work to log in.

Keeping our family supplied with the things we need and want is what this area will be all about without running the risk of googlers spotting the links and cleaning out what could have fed our own if ya know what I mean.

How about a minimum of 10 posts and at least one thank you received? That shows they are contributing in the eyes of a current member. Also how about an industry member classification for our industry friends not contingent on that?

I agree but also, this area would be for IF they want to offer a SPECIAL deal to just our members. Most of the deals they usually offer, they want EVERYONE to know about - googlers and all.

This area, since it would be invisible, would be for ONLY when the deal is just for us. Those are the deals we're looking for and the regular ones can be placed where ever the vendor prefers...
