Companies like Midwest Industries who are paying to advertise will not have to meet a minimum post count.

I truly appreciate the desire to ensure members contribute and there should be some metric to establish dedication to the community however a new member may be reluctant to post as they were raised to be "seen and not heard" unless they have something to add to a conversation.

There is a great deal of information on the forum that answers FAQ's so a new member may prefer to listen and learn. Depending on post count threshold, there is a danger of encouraging chatter that does not contribute to the overall quality of this forum.

A combination of nominal financial donation, post count, and/or participation in local/state/national shooting related organizations should attract the membership the forum seeks.

As someone who is a recent member I don't feel like anything I have to add would contribute. I am trying to learn about the AR10 platform and have several AR15's. I am looking for an AR10 and am grateful for all of the insights that so many of you are sharing on this site. I learned the hard way what AR15's that I don't like. Would like to avoid those mistakes when I purchase my first AR10. My hope is that the post count be low and maybe the length of membership be taken into account. As I learn and have more to contribute you will find me more willing to contribute more.

Welcome to the site glkingar!

Thank you for taking the plunge and making your first post. 90% of this site will always be public.

Please post a new thread in the AR-10 Rifle section with what features you will be looking for and what you will use your rifle for and we'll all jump on top of making recommendations for you.

Any questions never hesitate to send me a private message.

Hello Gerald and Welcome... :welcome:

FYI - serious members like yourself are and will always be welcome to join the members club and we'll do everything we can to ensure that you can. Like I've mentioned earlier in threads, this section will NOT be to keep good men out. It will be to bring good men IN and help us weed out the ones who are just here as "takers" and will just look at stuff, NOT join, and essentially rob our members of chances to exploit resources that we all need to survive ie magazines, ammunition, reloading supplies and the like - potentially just copying our links and posting them on other forums so they end up being run dry faster than we would hope.

Once the "standards" have been set and the "board of directors" picked (who will make approvals for membership) all a member that is just shy of the standards will need to do is contact one of the Mods or a member of the approving board and make your case. Most of the "Googlers" who are just passing by or ONLY joining to get our ammo links or whatever will probably NEVER take the time to do this and if they do, I'm hoping we will be able to see through it quickly enough to keep them from grabbing our links and posting them on other sites OR just simply be required to meet the standards before approval.

Good guys, like yourself, just need to let us know you are out there and we'll certainly make every opportunity available to stick by your request and see that you have all of the access you need.

Thank you for posting and speaking your mind on this topic and feel free to continue doing so. We like that kinda thing in here.

Respectfully
Sharkey

PS. I'm also hoping that once the standards ARE set, the Members Area will be invisible to ALL but approved members and we won't NEED to deny anyone - they just won't know it's there until they become more familiar with the site at which time they will probably be INVITED by guys seeing that they are sincere and here to learn and share and NOT just for easy links to good stuff... :)

I think a minimum time as a registered user OR a minimum number of posts would be a good idea. I have been registered for a pretty good while and just don't post that often.
