For your 1500 bucks you received a proven battle rifle and one of the finest 1500 bucks will get you. It was never intended to look good, what it lacks in appearance it makes up for in reliability.
interesting footnote on wilkepedia referencing the m110, knights military sass system, the military is currently looking for a modified or new sass because of breakdowns in the field, also want lighter, 9lbs.bare, shorter, 36" stock collapsed and as previosly mentioned reliable under combat usage they state ( military)it is taking two complete m110's to keep one functioning. Check it out for yourself, also at kit.up military. Also mentioned was the fact that this weapon system was one of the Army's top 10 new innovaions in 2007 and passed all trials, but you can't simulate combat, especially Irag and Afgan conditions. The Israeli's found the FAL would not stand up to Mideast conditions, hence the Galil modification of the AK for their battle rifle, and the fal had been found to be very reliable elsewhere. This is not Armalite's ar-10 rifle so don't think I'm in any way knocking Armalite's weapon, but battle proven means reliable above all else.Been there done that with the M-16 in Dong Nai province in 1965-66 and remember wishing I had my heavy awkward m-14 back.
Another week with no reply. Hate to take up time on the phone for this trivia so I'll send another email. If they would just tell me this is as good as it gets then I guess I could just move on, so far the butt plate gaps have not caused any fliers! One accurate rifle!
My Friend...You sent it in correct, and got it back....I think that's your answer..
If I was YOU...I would take abit of time and see how to fix it yourself to your Expectations...sometimes we must customize things to make it what we want it to be...to meet those Expectations...as what was said...
"It's a Battle Rifle"...NOT a Porsche....Look at it like a Truck...It is a Work Horse...not a Limo....and won't be perfect unless you make it so....
I agree...that it should be "perfect" as we all like things to be...but when in doubt...do it right yourself...Not being "RUDE"....just passing on my Philosophy on life....

I have to agree that this is a cosmetic problem and certainly doesn't affect the operation of the rifle and you seem to like the accuracy and reliability. If this was a custom I think a person would have a right to be upset. However, a big however, when a company sells a product to people, it has customers, and a big part of its focus should be customer service, both before and after the sale. This should mean at least the return of an e-mail. they may be busy, but busy means you have increased funds to add people to the payroll to answer phones and e-mails. A lot of people have read this thread, if just one of them was deciding on which maker to buy from the lack of prompt response or service might tip them to another manufacturer.
Another week with no reply. It is not that I'm upset about it just a little irritated at the waste of time. A perfect fit would be great and if there is a better fit available then I wanted it. All they need to do is tell me this is the best fit they have and I'm headed back to the range to shoot more ragged hole groups and ring whatever gong I choose! I'm sure there is one of those sniper stocks in the rifles future anyway.
