Armalite customer service , PROBLEM SOLVED

I just purchased a new AR-10 and have an issue with the stock. The butt plate and stock do not match. The parts of the butt plate that hang over are not a problem but the section of stock that is exposed is sharp enough that it drew blood after lightly dragging my hand across it, wiping off spots of oil from the factory. I understand it is a battle rifle and not a safe queen but this is a bit much. I have been trying to contact Armalite for a week both by e-mail and leaving messages on the phone, can't get a real person. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get their attention? I really expected more for almost $1500.

Eeek! Sorry to hear about this.

One thing about ArmaLite is they are at the top of the list and yet they are a very small shop when compared to some of the big outfits out there. They continue to produce many of the best rifles out there and at times the Customer Service can seem daunting but they are overwhelmed from open to close with calls for orders, etc.

If I understand correctly the sharp part is party of the buttstock itself. I seem to remember having a similar problem with mind. I'd recommend removing the butt plate, and rub the edge with something like denim that has some friction and can take the burr off the edge without getting too aggressive.

I'll also send a quick message to our resident ArmaLite expert for you.

All the best -

Martin

I just got off the phone with ArmaLite, talked to someone there about your issue...I have some contacts....anyway...I will send you a PM..(personal message) with some info as to Whom to contact....OK...they know your issue..although it doesn't come up often...they will explain...
You will most likely have to send the rifle in..via where you bought it.
Sending message...

Pays to have friends in high places! I got right through and had all the info I needed within minutes! All I have to do is send it in and they will fix me up. I almost sent it off today but then started to think I might want to wait until I get it broke in and then have them tune the trigger. It seems like a waste to have it there and not take advantage of all the experience. I'm going to check and see if this will work for Armalite.
I also like this idea because I won't have to wate to get some rounds down range! Thanks for all the help!

Most manufacturers can't keep up with the hundreds of e-mails they get each and every day. Call them, I've had to wait 5-10 minutes before but you do get good service when you get through.

The sharp edge of your stock, just grind/sand it down and touch up with a "Super Black" touch-up pen, near invisible.

The Armalite rep said they just needed the stock so I went ahead and sent it in. Got it back today, 3 weeks later, have to say I'm pretty disapointed. I can't tell the difference. The stock and butt plate only match on about a third of the stock. It is not as sharp on the edges but but it is still deformed. I emailed them about it so we'll see what they have to say. Maybe I'm just to picky for an Armalite but till now I thought a flush fit between stock and butt plate was SOP.

[strike]I don't seem to be able to post any. I select them but they don't appear anywhere after that. Is there another method?[/strike]
