I'm still following your progress and am interested in everything that you've been doing, but it sure seems like a major headache. I've all but come to the conclusion that I probably won't do this with my .308's, but for .300WM, .338, etc. I may try, if anything just to see if it will prolong barrel life.
I've done some light reading on some bullets that David Tubb sells. Apparently he sells them pre-coated. I need to look more into it, but I've been starting to look for a new toy and I may go with some sort of 6mm for the next project. When and if I get this going, I may order some of Tubb's bullets.
Hmmm, that's interesting on Tubb. He's probably just trying to make a buck. He probably started the whole thing with a Thumbler's Tumbler too!
He's a great shooter, but I haven't been too impressed with one of his video's. Someone gave me his "Tactical Sniper Shooting Techniques" and since this is the type of shooting/competitions I do, I thought maybe this video would have some good pointers in it. I'm glad that I didn't buy it, because it was just one big commercial. I don't think I gained anything from watching that.
Maybe I need to rethink ordering bullets from him.
Here I go again, but maybe when I get my .308 bolt gun back, I'll try coating some 175 SMK's and see what happens. I need to figure out how to get some more time to play too.
Funny how few of the truly great ones don't eventually go commercial. The almight buck drives the world. Just as strange is how many of the barely talented in the music industry become icons simply from an intense marketing effort. And just as odd, how many in that industry call what they do "music". Rap Crap and Taylor Swift Country Musician of the Year???
sheesh.......
Sorry, but I've been off net for a bit due to two operations and some hospital time. Just now getting up to snuff.
Still trying to follow this thread and see where it leads.
As far as David Tubb doing a video on sniper shooting techniques that's ludicrous. If he wants to do one on match shooting I'll listen, but to the best of my knowledge he isn't or has never been a trained "sniper". Another guy just trying to make a buck...it's sad.
I WILL give the man his due. If he want's to author a tape on Hi-Power match shooting I'll listen and buy it, but not something he doesn't have the "bona fides" for...
In fact I have one of his tape and it's good.
Good to be back. I looks like this last operation was a success and I may be up and shooting again in about six months.
Didn't realize what had happened to you, Wes. Glad to hear you're well. Those belly to butt transplants can be rough. heh............
I'm a cancer survivor, so I appreciate every day I have here.
