Current load/projectile a nominal +-25fps.
I'm working a new batch of hBN projectiles this everning. We're expecting sub zero nights by tonight. We'll have to set up the shooting shed with the propane heaters. I'm determined to get this sorted out before snowfall.
Edge, the new and hopefully final destination for our impact coating was done last night with a control group of 25 projectiles. Small peanut butter jar filled to the 1/5th mark with coated BBs, 25 projectiles and .75gr of hBN in the Thumler's Tumbler for 3 hours.
Snowed last night with expected temps around 8 degrees saturday morning so it probably won't be until we get back into the mid 50s next week.
First test with hBN and one Mini-14. Scrubbed the bore clean with both Sweets and Barnes, hBN burnished the bore, shot 8 hBN coated projectiles and the normal group size for that rifle decreased by an easy 40%.
We'll be doing the zfk55 7.5x55 Swiss and an AR10 A4 next. Looks like this stuff works well.
After finding too many inconsistencies in the Lake City brass, we've switched to brand new Lapua .308 brass. More on that later, but its as close to perfect as you can get without after the fact mechanical truing.
