That 1/2 to 5/8 you're short probably means the previous owner installed an M4 receiver extension on your AR10. An M4 RE is 6 and 15/16ths long, or about 5/8ths of an inch too short.
OK this is easy, you are screwed or in this case since you replaced the stock there is a screw you need to also replace. Call them up and you can send it in or they should just send you the screw. I just went thru this...
What screw would that be? I think all thats involved with this stock is the locknut that holds the tube to the receiver, right?

After some more reading and looking at my pic, I am thinking more and more that my tube is the wrong tube. From what I have read, the longer AR-10 receiver extension tube should stick out from behind the collapsible stock by about 5/8" when its collapsed completely. Anybody got a thought on that?

No, when completely collapsed the stock should be flush with the end of the RE.
