Going to break in the ARMALITE AR 10 tomorrow morning!!!!
A virgin .308 in the hands of a Texas Cowboy! Is there anything better?
Well yes.......but this will do just fine!!!!
Giddy up, YEE HAWWWW :woohoo:
damn fine day moby, I'm jealous..
hope you lubed the bolt and carrier, they ship'em dry as a bone.
Let us know how the shootin' session goes, we already know the feeding and cycling will be fine. I'm curious about the groups with that inexpensive AE ammo
I am jealous. Ordered my AR10TBNF in March and it is due to arrive next month. I have been feverishly reloading to accomodate the expected joy of shooting the weapon when it arrives.
Will be shooting high power matches and can't wait to get my hands on it.
Thanks OldSarge,
First thank you for your service sir.
I took it to the range yesterday. I've got the 16" chromed barrel . Not match grade.
After breaking it in yesterday I’ve come to realize a couple things. A 4X scope is going to be good for hunting but beyond 100 yards is too weak. And…..well…I’m not such a good shot. LOL
But I’m in a learning curve.
I'm no expert on scopes as I prefer iron sights, but if it will do for hunting, thats good for now.
As far as not being a good shot.....well that takes a little time and lots of practice. The important question is did you have fun at the range? If so then you will get better. They seem to go hand in hand. LOL
Keep shooting.
Sounds like you have several optics to choose from and change out. I would very strongly suggest you invest in some LaRue Q.R. scope mounts. I have several and they are nothing but the best.
The mount seems very well built and looks great on my AR 10. The Millett Scope is a pretty nice peice of gear for $289.00 Very solid, really clear and bright glass. The zoom knob is pretty tight. I hope that loosens a bit. But for a sub $300 scope I think I'll be very happy with it.
I can now choose four different options with my AR 10. Iron sights, a Red Dot sight, a smaller 4X Bushnell scope, and a variable 4X16 X 50mm longer range scope.
I've received my Midwest Industries 2-Piece Gen 2 Handguard Quad Rail and need to add that and I'm good to go.
