JustMe,

Yes, hose clamps do the job. However, I've found that most guys are pretty "Macho" and are pretty adamant about not putting hose clamps on their rifle.

Lee,

The hose clamps are just a little field expediency to see how well the brass catcher works. Well, it works very well. It's super light weight, catches all the brass, folds for easy storage on or off the rifle, the bag is tough and doesn't snag on things, and it's super easy to attach and detach from the rifle. What else could you want? I plan to drill and tap or cut a slot in the forearm for the final picatinny solution.

JustMe,

I'm not doubting the benefits of the Tactical Bass Recover brass catcher. As one who sells the tactical brass catcher (full disclosure) I have run into those who have free float hand guards and they are very resistant to using hose clamps. Just stating my experience.

Lee,

No negative effect on my accuracy. The AR-10T uses an aluminum handguard. Still shooting half inch groups at 100 yards.

Not sure what this has to do with the thread here:

"No negative effect on my accuracy. The AR-10T uses an aluminum handguard. Still shooting half inch groups at 100 yards."

Doesn't really make sense in light of my last comment.

Lee,

You stated that, "I have run into those who have free float hand guards and they are very resistant to using hose clamps. Just stating my experience."

Your above comment implies to me that the hose clamps are affecting the floating handguards somehow. Floating handguards are used to increase accuracy. So the logical conclusion from your comment is that the clamps affect accuracy. My comment is that the clamps do not affect accuracy. If that isn't what you meant by your hose clamp comment, then what were you insinuating?

Also let me repeat my previous statement that the hose clamp is just a temporary fix until I can drill and tap my forearm. The clamps are just one of many solutions for attaching items to a forearm that doesn't have Picatinny rails.

JustMe,

Nope, it has nothing to do with accuracy. It's all about how it looks and how "Macho" most guys are. Has nothing to do with how the gun shoots.

Marty,
I agree. You can fix anything with duct tape and hose clamps.

Lee,
I agree about the looks of hose clamps on an AR. It looks cheezy, but it works as an interum fix since the Armalite AR-10T didn't give us an option to mount a picatinny near the ejection port for a brass catcher. I don't like the after market forearms that have multiple Picatinny rails that then require covers to keep from cutting your hands and catch on everything. That's why I plan to just modify my 10T forearm by cutting another slot near the ejection port or maybe just drilling some holes for the Picatinny screws.

cheesy looking is a BIG deal to a lot of people. I remember back in the day when my brother and I would hose clamp bid 4D maglights to our rifles for night time varminting. There were no options back then and it worked. Wouldn't be caught in a zombie horde doing that now.

I agree that having 4 full length rails is useless most of the time. If it were me designing a fore end, it would be one continuous top rail with everything else modular. Similar to a vltor cas-vel, only without the piggy back on the upper.
