Medicare/Medicaid- How are they failures. Miss managed yes but hardly a failure. The only miss management was they where a little short sighted. And there are a lot of criminals taking advantage of them. I think any program is susceptible to fraud.

Amtrack- Should have never happened that was a fraudulent in its inception and scope from the beginning. We should go back and find those responsible.

Post office- worked great until it could not keep up with a rapidly changing market and now could be abandoned, but won't it will die a slow death.

IRS- I could fix that in 5 minutes, with half a dozen new rules. And some stiff penalties. A lot of people would loose there jobs, and a lot of banks and companies would be crying. But it would be fixed in a very permanent way. No one is willing to be the bad guy.

Welfare, Foodstamps where bad ideas and should be cancelled

Obama Phone Program- WTF I think we will reserve a special place in history for that one.

Have you been on Medicare? My experience with it was abysmal. The actual client is about the last one to matter in the system, right behind the doctor.

Medicare is a cost effective program, the delivery is dependent on the those you dealt with. Jt was the system the problem or was it a point of delivery problem, they are 2 completely different things. A lot of hospitals and dr offices make it difficult, because it is not as lucrative for them as regular insurance or pt pay. If it was those claims would be processed at the SL. No I am not on medicare yet.

Medicare and Medicaid have about a 20+ % fraud and mismanagement waste factor if not more

Medicaid is approaching $1 Trillion in costs. And its FREE to all.

Govt programs what they don't tell you: The cost to manage govt programs is staggering. Look at their admin costs to run programs vs any capitalist system is unbelievable.

Post Office: I WORKED for the Post Office: Its not e mail that took it down. Its unions, fraud, abuse and employees with a bad attitude to say the very least. When I quit, the Postmaster of Dallas called me at home and begged me to come back. Its a lifetime job and benefits and you can come to work and sleep your 8 hrs. Many employees hold other full time jobs and sleep their 8 hr shift and no you cannot fire them..

Healthcare. What the govt hopes you never figure out: Want to see govt healthcare, I will show it to you. You see the govt in fact runs 2 healthcare systems and has for many, many years and they know well how much healthcare costs. Military Healthcare system and the jewel called Veterans Administration.

I filed a claim with the VA back in '05. I submitted my service records and 36 pages of documentation from the military. It was adjudicated in 2011, 6 years it took to resolve. And why, who knows, but it got resolved because a VA Lawyer reviewed my file and wrote a scathing letter to the VA, cc'd me on it and he smoked them for having my file and docs to support my claim for 6 years. This is not rare.

Obamacare will become the 'VA' down the road. Obama care is intended to be a single payer system and govt hospitals and by govt employees. Takes MONTHS to get appts to do anything, I often just go local and pay out of my own pocket. I spent 2 weeks in a VA hospital when I came back from Vietnam with the exception of the Doc who operated on me the rest was a nightmare. They did bring in a Doc to do the surgery as they did not have anyone on staff in Dallas who could do it. Trust me, its a MESS.

We have a govt out of control and its taking us down.

I can tell you that the steps being taken in the medicare system to stop fraud right now are whats causing problems system wide but they are a necessary evil. Why, because what they are doing is working. In the last five years alone they have rooted out more fraud than in the preceding twenty. And yet they still have a long ways to go.

Besides the waste what I saw was a system that managed the doctor. I was on a cheap generic drug that worked, when I was placed on medicare and all its alphabet parts they decided it was not being prescribed appropriately and refused to pay. As soon as they refused then my secondary insurer dropped it as well. When it came to actual time invested in my care by my doctor interacting with me was about 10% of his time, the rest was submitting paperwork then re-submitting it again and again. They paid for and required things that were not needed but would not pay for things that were.
I can remember getting stitches at 4 years old. The doctor came to the farm on Sunday in a snowstorm and took a few dozen eggs as payment. That was true HEALTH CARE. I'm sure that would violate several laws today.............

OleCowboy wrote: During the 3-1/2 years of World War 2 that started with the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and ended with the Surrender of Germany and Japan in 1945, the U.S. produced 22 aircraft carriers, 8 battleships, 48 cruisers, 349 destroyers, 420 destroyer escorts, 203 submarines, 34 million tons of merchant ships, 100,000 fighter aircraft, 98,000 bombers, 24,000 transport aircraft, 58,000 training aircraft, 93,000 tanks, 257,000 artillery pieces, 105,000 mortars, 3,000,000 machine guns, and 2,500,000 military trucks.

We put 16.1 million men in uniform in the various armed services, invaded Africa, invaded Sicily and Italy, won the battle for the Atlantic, planned and executed D-Day, marched across the Pacific and Europe, developed the atomic bomb and ultimately conquered Japan and Germany.

It's worth noting, that during the almost exact amount of time, the Obama administration couldn't build a functioning web site.

That is so good Cowboy... Outstanding ...... somebody put this on Facebook please.....

Cowboy I guess you have had some bad experiences. Mine have been different, I have always had good experiences at the smaller VA clinics. The VA hospitals suck (I see it as a staff thing , they are all burnt out and need to get out) I try not to use them. But when I utilize my regular insurance Blue Cross Blue Shield, I experience all the same delays, and way higher costs, but you get what you pay for and I am willing and able to pay the higher cost. I have a few friends(coworkers that are already on medicare and they love it) they think its the best thing since sliced bread. I guess your expectations may be different. I realize we have a healthcare crisis going on right now ( not enough doctors ) and its not likely to change anytime soon.
I got to go Christmas shopping right now I will be back later. But good conversation as usual.
