Crown Royal Reserve and sweet Ice tea. Two shots per tall glass and let it sit for a few minute. Most Dangerous drink in the world. Just my :twocents:

Stay thirsty my friends!

I lived on Crown Royal or VO for the first 30 years of my life... Good stuff that Crown Royal although I don't miss it now. I don't imagine anyone else minds me not drinking either since there was a time, oh so long ago, when I was considered, well, slightly less than amiable...

Hell, I tell people that know me NOW that compared to years ago, I'm like a walking, living breathing lump of frickin SUGAR compared to back then and I'm accused of being a cold prick now....

They've got NO idea....lol

Shark, I am guessing most of this group are children of sweetness and light compared to what we used to be. But nothing beats a mean streak when your life is on the line.

Like any old soldier I enjoy a good cup ‘o Joe and its hard to come by. A few coffee shops will do it, but Starbucks is not one of them. The best coffee I have had in the US has been at the Jailhouse Cafe in Moab, Utah.

With a career in the Army I have drank a lot of coffee. Some good, some great and sometimes I could tell the cook had washed his socks. But it all tastes good when you wrap your hands around a steaming canteen cup full of 'Joe on a cold winters day on the DMZ in Korea or the training area in Hohenfels, or Grafenwoehr, Germany.

The warmth of the canteen cup in your near frozen hands and the feeling as the hot coffee slides down your throat into your belly warming you to the toes. Nothing like it and no matter how bad the cooks socks needed washing the warmth was also welcome.

That said, I got spoiled spending time in Europe especially Italy with its great coffee. I haven’t been able to duplicate it but recently I have come close. I use a blend of 25% Blue Kona from Hawaii for its smoothness, 25% Mocha beans that adds chocolate overtones and 50% Italian Roast top grade beans for their robust flavor.

Krups Espresso maker $149.95

Cuisinart Coffee bean grinder $29.95

2 lb bag of Sam’s Club Italian Espresso Roast Beans $6.97

A great cup ‘o Joe to an warm old soldiers bones...Priceless!

Hey bud, cannot access the thread "If they did it back then"!?!?!?!

So to reply here till something gets sorted out: I was just pullin on you about digging up bones...

I started out with Segram's VO and drank that till my Jr yr in college. Then one weekend me and my roomie had scored a couple of girls who were friends and we were hoping for a weekend with them.

We get down to the Class VI store (Liquor) and count our money. Well Seagram's VO is not cheap and we are thinking we need a half gallon for he 4 of us for a weekend. And suddenly the cost factor hits us. Seagram's and Coke it beyond our wallet size. BUT we can buy some cheap bourbon and Coke. The sales guys warns on cheap bourbon and coke and tells us GOOD Quality Bourbon and water would be a better choice. We go with that and it gives us some money left over. We get a 1/2 gal of W L Weller 90 proof.

And I have been drinking Bourbon ever since over 40 years...

A good cup of Joe is tough to beat. I picked up a Cuisinart grind and brew 10 years ago, and upgraded to their new design five years ago. I like Cameron's woods and water blend. 10% Kona, Hawaiian Kaui, with columbian and sumatran added. If you get acid reflux, try Guatemalan, it is a lower acidic coffee. Sam's breakfast blend from Brazil is a great bargain whole bean coffee at $14.57 for 2.5 lbs.
