When dispensing powder I always set the measure a bit under for the just in case and then use the trickler to finish the weighed load.
I was always having to recheck the scale as just a slight bump would throw it off so I fixed that by getting a Lyman 1200 DPS 3.It is a bit slow at dispensing loads but it is right on.
I am going to incorporate My pull handle dispensor onto it and then let the DPS finish the weighed load.
The DPMS machine I purchased was $299.00 at the local Ace hardware store but I`m sure it could be purchased for much less on line or elsewhere,I just like doing business locally. :)
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info MM51, for now I am planning on the basic Hornady scale, Midway has them for just under 35.00. That's all I can muster for now but it will be enough to check my loads for what I am doing...at this point.
I also want to thanks Scaup58, that site you gave me, I e-mailed them and got back some interesting info I am going to put to use later in this venture.....Thanks

it might be a good idea to take some 1X2 lumber and secure the scale from moving around by building a frame work around the scale by securing the 1X2s to the bench top.
At least that way when You get it set and if You would happen to touch it at least it wont move and throw it off.
I understand what You are saying about a tight budget.

Well just an update, I am going with 42 grains of powder. I have done a lot of research the last few days and have several sites and PDFs filed for reference. Besides the videos I did, I have been busy with "honeydo list" things, you married guys know how that goes.....LOL. Anyway I will be doing my first batch tonight or tomorrow night, will keep you apprised on the progress..
Thanks again for all your help....

We have ammo.....my first batch is done. Hey I am pretty proud of myself right now. Went with (what was supposed to be 42 grains) ended up coming out 41.9, I wasn't going to jack around for a .1 gr. , so now I all have to do is go see how accurate they are.....given the weather, it might be a few days, it is windy and cold, the cold part I can handle, but the two together doesn't make for a fun time...not to mention it can effect one's shooting ability.
Here is a couple of pics,,,,,

We will see who will prevail in an accuracy test....LOL.
Wish me luck...
Going to try for this morning.....

Well I got out Friday morning and did some shooting. I had talked with Z before I left about the effects of the cold on shooting. He was not kidding, dam I shot like crap compared to what I usually shoot anyway. I did have one of mine find the sweet spot (you'll see). I did a comparison with three 150gr types of ammo, Federal 150gr SP, Remington 150 gr SP and my reloads. For the condition I would have to say they all shot close to the mark, not a whole lot of deviation from the pattern, well sort of...
I took videos of the shoot, but being I had to keep the camera in the truck, to keep it warm and from dying, I just kept the last two, a rapid fire and the target comparison.
Hope you will like them......It was cold out there...

and the comparison....

Thanks again ZFK55 for the info on what to expect....

I liked the rapid fire test the best,LOL.
I have reloaded using Ramshot "Tac" powder.
I went to western Powders {about a 1/2 mile from My house} yesterday morning and Had Keith install the Geissele trigger in Mine AR10,after the final assembly, adjustment We stepped out the door, keith popped off about 5 rounds at a man sillouette target and was impressed with the loads.
Western Powders owns Ramshot and Accurate Powders so it makes it real handy to be able to make a trip to the top of Yellowstone Hill and fire away with My questions{pun intended LOL}.
Tac powder was specifaccely made just for the AR and M1A1 rifles in the .308 and the 223 calibers and works real good for those.I asked Keith about using Ramshot for reloading My .243 rounds and He told Me do`nt do it,Ramshot was specifically designed and manufacture for the Ar rifle and the burn of the powder is way different than anything else they have made.
It is real kool to go up on the hill and watch them make the actioned chambers and test fire the various powders and bullets and then seeing some of the chamber pressures on the computer screen and also muzzle velocities.
Whenever the firearms manufacturers come up with a new round Western is the company that does all the test firing for min. max velocities, chamber pressures etc. so most every round they do is a wildcat until they get done with testing and the firearms manufacturer gets it on the market.
Real kool and fun place to hang out at.

Glad you liked it, it was fun. If it wouldn't have been so cold, I would have done another.
On that powder, I might check it out, my local dealer didn't have it, and the guy I normally deal with was off when I was in there.
That place sounds like a sure shot place to go and hang out, wish I had some thing like that around here....you're lucky.
