You may run into some cycling problems with Your AR using the full length die set.
If so then go get a "small base" die set and resize Your brass.

Thanks gentleman, I have decided to cut them down to factory lengths, I suppose the response would be "no duh" LOL...
So I am off to mess with them, will keep you up to date on my progress.
MSH, "Your making the reloading into a night at a cheap Vegas cat house."
Well being it is my first time, I guess it may be..hahahaha.
Thanks..

I couldn't help my self on that Vegas cat house statement. It was funny, but prep your brass right and it will last a long time. Also because your new to the loaders bench, work with ww760 powder for a while rather than other powders with the A10 in 308. It will be a good friend and shoots on the good side accuracy wize. The pressure pulse is in the right spot for the gas system. Then you can branch out.MSH

I have a eight pound jug of "RamShot" "TAC" powder that was developed for the semiauto service rifle in the .223 and also the .308 calibers.
I had a chance to load up some rounds of various grains and bullet weights but I got busy and have`nt had a chance to take those rounds or the rifles to the range for a test fire.
has anyone in the forum had an opportunity to try some of the TAC powder.
Besides the AR10 I also have an M1A1 so I get a lot of miles out of the dies for reloading the .308.LOL
PS.I thought the cathouse remarks were very funny.LOL

OK, now I am getting pissed. Got the primers in yesterday morning and thought I would start charging the cases and finish the first batch................I am calling Lee in the morning. The so-called Perfect powder measurer is somewhat not so perfect, used the formula that they stated and use the calibrations instructed, #$#%@%^$% so much for their settings, I am two settings above what I am supposed to be, and the balance scale I got with the kit, well, it is driving me nuts. I zero it out to calibrate it, weigh out a charge or two, while setting the powder measurer, and the thing is off again, and no I did not bump it or move it, sorry. I am going to put this on hold till I talk to Lee and find out what the hell is going on, and I can get a digital scale that I can count on............AAAARRRRGGGGG.
Will keep you all posted, any one got a suggestion for an not to expensive scale, money is tight right now......

BMS,

What powder are you using again? I like the Lee powder measures, but they can be finiky with some powders. (Now that I say this, all powder measures are finiky, depending on powder). I've found that the Lee's work best with extruded type powders. I wouldn't rely on their, Lee's, calibration methods. Personally I would weigh out each and not even pay attention to their scale on the powder measure. I've also noticed with the Lee powder measures that depending on how full it is will influence the amount that is actually dispensed. When the powder measure is half full, I've noticed that it is more consistent.

As for your scale, I had a Lee at one time that worked very well. I wish I still had it, but I dropped something on it and it broke, dang it! What are you using to calibrate it?

Also, be careful with digital scales. I've found that some are more tempromental than others and need constant recalibration. More so than the analog scales.

I'm sure things are better than you think. You're doing fine and I'm sure you'll have everything straightened out soon! If I lived close by, I'd come over to help.

I am using the IMR 4895 powder. Hornady suggested the IMR 4064, but I had already bought this, will try that nest time with the A-MAX bullets for the good rounds.
I too wish you lived closer my friend, hell if I had the $$$ I would buy you a plane ticket and put you up in a nice hotel too....
Well I am glad I am not loosing my mind on the powder measurer, I remembered a little while ago that some where I have a 2 gram weight, I am going to find it and see what my scale says before I get on the phone with LEE.
Oh I forgot, some one told me it is good to have both type of scales anyway, was that you????
Thanks again my friend....any other ideas "please" pass them on.....

Try weighing you bullets. You know they are 150 gr., so that would be a good check. More than likely the bullets are not going to be exactly 150 gr, but they'll be close.

Does the scale say 150 gr. or there abouts?

I'm trying to remember how that scale works. Is there a thumb wheel that acts as the counter balance?

Whoops, I just looked at a picture of the scale and I forgot that it only goes up to 110 gr.

Do you have a handgun bullet under 110 grains around? Or a .223 55 gr bullet? Or something similar? If you have a bunch, you can weigh several 55 gr bullets and see how they weigh out on the scale. THey should be within 1 gr. of each other.

Doing this probably won't get you exactly "on", but it will get you close enough to where you can weigh some powder that will be within .5 grains, until you can get a calibrated weight to check your scale, and thus you can load some up and go shoot this weekend. I wouldn't worry about overcharging, because I know you aren't loading anywhere near max.

Sorry to everyone out there for freaking out, but I am a stickler for precision when it comes to things that need to be.
I found that weight I was looking for, 2 grams x 15.432 = 30.864 grains. Now I am happy, I have a exact weight to deal with and my scale is for the most part on the money, for what it can be, still going to invest in a digital one.
I guess you where right, Edge, on the measurer being off, so much for the "perfect powder measure", oh well, at least now I have something to go off for a calibration.
Thanks for the bullet thing, I didn't even think of that, the only one I could use is a 36 grain .22, everything is well over a 150.
I will be back on target tonight or the next day.
I have some videos I need to get done one of these days, and have been sidetracked with the reloading venture. So I guess I am good to go....what a relief, thought I was loosing it....
Thanks.......
