More true than not...I quote an old friend who once said...
A 10,000 Rifle and a bad shooter...you won't hit the barn.
A $500 rifle in the hand of a True shooter, he will punch a Dime 5 times at 100 yards...

I don't use SMK but I do use Hornady and have used that powder..
I have found that it depends on the range, remember I am shooting with a 16" combat barrel, for longer ranges...42.5...for shorter...43.6 worked real good...but I as I stated...shorter ranges...100 to 200 yards...
Other factors will need to be addressed, Barrel break in, the Rifle it's self...
I have learned from many with more experience than I...very rarely what works in one AR-10 will do the same in another...Just something to think about...
Best advice...find a Starting point, then work your load and your rifle to be in Harmony...

Well said. A safe starting point is all I was really after. I know the books say it is safe - just wondering if anyone here had actually shot the combination. I find it very reassuring that they have. Thanks!

I found a few pounds of the IMR4007ssc and it looks like the 20" T barrels like the 4007 at about 43.9-45 gr.. Just researching while the rifle is in the pipeline...
