Politics were different back then. Kennedy also oversaw the largest build up of strategic nuclear forces in the country's history. Back then Kennedy, a Democrat, and Eisenhower, a Republican, were ideologically closer to each other then the two parties are now.

Those were the days when we used to say made no diff if you put a Dem or Rep in office, policies are the same.

Today its communism vs capitalism and communism is winning...
