Thanks for injecting some common sense Sharkey. If this vein had kept up I would be permanently leaving this forum. I am here to learn about and enjoy talking about the AR10, not plot against the country I love. A little discussion is fine, but this kind of stuff is not appropriate :hijacked: for this forum.
-agree: Thanks Sharkey.
Sometimes we get carried away and need to be reigned in a bit. I come here to enjoy the knowledge and comradery of all the people that post here. I support our 2nd amendment as much as anyone but may draw the line at shooting anyone over it. The repercussions of that would ring down the chain into my family. The very people I am here to protect.
Not try hurting anyone I love and that is a different story.
We are all discussing what could and very well MAY play a major role in shaping our country for the future.
One thing we need to VERY careful of is sounding like we WANT any kind of a fight. We own our weapons because we are enthusiasts AND Americans and we have every right, according to our constitution to do so.
Does all the talk about banning our rifles get us angry and a bit on edge? Absolutely. But we must hold ranks and stand beside each other as responsible Americans and owners of what has become a huge topic of debate and the objects of a LOT of hatred and fear.
If we do what is our responsibility as voters and gun owners and talk responsibly, effectively and as informed and concerned citizens, then it will be obvious that we are NOT all just a bunch of blood thirsty animals with death weapons out to harm innocent people. This is the stigma that we must ALL avoid at all costs.
Declarations of war and blurting out that we are ready to "take it to the death" or whatever, only adds to the hysteria that is already gripping all of the gun grabbers and gives them TRUCKLOADS of ammunition to gain sympathy and support and vote us out of existence.
We are fighting for a way of life that has been our constitutional right from the beginning and it was men of sense THEN that laid down the ground rules and it must be men of sense today, that do what is right to see that those rights remain within our hands, our hearts and our homes.
Violence, either thinking it, talking about it, or acting on it, only gives those who would oppose us the FREE ammunition that we will never have, that will make our lives increasingly difficult as proud Americans and 2nd Amendment supporters and practitioners.
People going over the deep end is what GOT us all in the current situation and we can either hold it together or lose, lose and lose some more.
Trying to sound smart and responsible gives me headaches so damn, let's get the yes or no game going again somebody... Woof, I need an aspirin now...
I think the best way to fight this is with numbers.
You know that if you write your congressman/congresswoman, senator or other representative that they have some lackey reading it. This person probably has some kind of tally sheet of for and against. You don't have to spend an hour and a half writing up some way to argue your point that is going to get lost on some 3rd year law student interning for a semester. Just keep it short. State your position, say that you are going to talk with everyone you know and tell them to vote against anybody in the next election that is for more gun legislation . Maybe mention any related or even unrelated civic or other kind of groups you are in. MAKE IT CLEAR THAT YOU ARE AGAINST THIS.
Get some other people to do the same thing.
Write to anyone that you can find contact information for and repeat this. I think the more in the against column the better chance this has of getting shot down.
I think we need the shotgun approach on this instead of the sniper!
