So true, the very fabric of our country is being destroyed...

"The fact that my kid gets a participation award for just being on a team pisses me off."

So the other day I was over at a military base doing a rare PX run and I keep seeing all these soldiers with chests full of awards. At first I thought it was some guys who had been in the bloody arena, so I started asked, what is that, its something I have never seen. Ohh its a combat award, really, what is your branch? Oh I am just an E 4 supply clerk and we don't wear branch anymore and this went on with varying answers. Finally I asked how do you get these awards working in a AC'd office on a fortified base? Oh EVERYONE gets them. Why don't you wear branch (I asked this of a E 8 I spied). We don't wear branch because we don't want non combat soldiers to feel bad and as for that Combat award, yea given to everybody so they don't feel bad when they see a CIB.

Why on earth would they feel bad
I felt honored to meet every single man I did with a CIB,
made damn sure I paid attention to whatever they had to say :usa:

I can understand the feeling. I am a Viet Nam Vet though I was only a aircraft mechanic, rotating from Taiwan and the Philippines for 15 to 25 days a month, working ten hour shifts (ie - 10 hrs on and 10 hrs off with no days off in country) our only time off was when we return to our home base to get the airplanes repaired and inspected. Oh we did get shot at now and then and had to go to a bunch of small and large bases to recover broke airplanes, but we never had to go on patrol in the jungle. The closest we came to hostility was walking a couple of miles back and forth to our barracks at night through some very questionable areas, dodging snakes and trying not to get shot by the Air Base Guards. We did have rockets lad next to our barracks (and at Cam Rahn Bay that meant several days of cleaning sand out of everything) and our planes did get shot up while we were in them from time to time, but we did not actually experience combat and yet we received Air Medals for our combat missions, combat pay, and of course the ever present tax exemptions. When my Grand Kids ask what I did in the war I just say I worked on airplanes that hauled most of the food, ammunition, medical supplies, wounded, and KIA's, nothing very exciting. Not much to show for a lot of work though it is also not something to be ashamed of. I really feel that those guys that were in the bush and on the Fire Bases should be recognized for what they did and what they contributed no matter what the outcome. Well so much for the ramblings of a old Master Sergeant. I hope all you Mothers out there have a great Mothers Day and stay safe !!!!!!!!

I read every one of those and can relate to all of them!

America's being destroyed from within by our own government and elected official regardless of party affiliation. Liberalism is the scourge of this nation and is at the heart of destroying anything good that came from America.

We produce / manufacture nothing. Way by an American car? All of the parts and most of them are assembled in Mexico and Canada. Kubota tractors are made in Georgia. Hyundai's are made in Alabama.

America enjoys many freedoms but unfortunately you'll need a permit which you'll be charged for. When the government wants for money, they'll tax something else....

What is it that some don't understand....Illegal Alien means their here illegally and must be deported not "undocumented worker". Blood now boiling!!

Remember taxation without representation??

OH, and one more note: Everything in Massachusetts is against the law.... :soapbox:

You got it!

Death and takes are the two things in life you can't escape....I'm surprised MA hasn't outlawed dying as it impacts their revenue base...
