Since I looked in the mirror the first time, looks has never been an issue with me.
My weapon has a forward assist. I don't know enough to answer your question intelligently. I'll just ask you........ what would mrraley do???
I apologize for my ignorance. Thank you for your help.
I didn't know what I had till I gave you the serial # and you told me it was an AR10A2BF. Born 03/2011.
All I knew was I had a FINE RIG for a GOOD price.
Can't thank you enough for the help.

Mardad, just so you know, I have the same rifle and scopes are still VERY possible with our style rifle.
I had the standard stock on it with a cheek piece up until recently and now I have the Armalite Adjustable stock with a cheek piece.
You just have to be able to get your head to an optimum height with this model and a scope but you are still WAY in the game with the style rifle you have.

Thanks Sharkey. You probably payed more for your glass than I did my rifle. I have also ordered an Armalite adjustable butt stock.
This is probably another stupid question but here goes....
Why didnt you get the A4 receiver and a detachable carry handle.
These are questions I am bouncing around in my empty bucket.
I am fairly new to "black guns". Remmy 742 30.06 was my battle rifle back in the day. Both of my sons made the transition from wood furniture to black in the CORP. They both laugh at my dinosaur ways.
I thank all of yall here on AR10T. Other sites are not as patient with flagrant ignorance.
So Sharkey, Why you do what you do with your rifle?
Not to knock his way of mounting a scope, but, an A4 upper receiver with a set of low or medium rings will be a lot more ergonomic and thus be a more accurate weapon.
