I've had some great accuracy with my chrome lined 20 inch. I don't do much target shooting past 100 yards, I'm to lazy to walk further to get the target, but my rifle regularly gives me 5 shot groups at around 3/4 inch, edge to edge. I can screw that up at times but I've been pleasantly surprised how good a shot the rifle makes me look. It strangely seems to like NATO surplus ammo best, 150 gr. or so. I tried several boxes of different match ammo's and just didn't get any real improvement at 100 yards. Since the Ball ammo will ding the steel we have at 300 yds. I've just called it good.
Guess if I needed to go a little farther or was in a competition I'd have to go with a good SS though.

thanks for you input!!

I called Armalite with the SN and it is the new rifle that takes the Pmags, its an A4 carbine (basically the one on the site, all black) I think for now I may just stick with what i have, I might get one of the laser scopes, as they seem to have good reviews. and even if the laser part fails you can still use it. however that is more money upfront.

I think the current set up will suit me for a while, I would like the float rails from MI and a bipod.

the wife is bugging me for an AK lol

I will agree that CL barrels tend to be less accurate than SS, but the difference is so small these days that most of us mere mortals wouldn't be able to tell the difference or be able to squeeze that last 1/64th MOA out of it. The big difference is in durability (And John Noveske will argue this point with me.) A CL barrel will last longer before groups reach an unacceptable size compared to a SS barrel.

If you're going to maintain a regular firing schedule, I'd recommend staying with CL.

I also agree with FO's assessment of BDC reticles.

You're going to change something on this rifle. It's an AR, so it's inevitable. Take this one, shoot it awhile and figure out what direction you want to go with it. Welcome to the site!

After I paid for my extra ArmaLite magazines I've never had an issue. They all came smooth as silk so I never gave the P-mags a thought. Others that try them seem to like them so I'm going to avoid even touching one so I can save for my wifes rifle. She wants a mid-length ArmaLite SPR Mod 1, she just doesn't know that yet.

I'm stuck on the Chrome lined, got a report from one of the leading manufactures on CL vs SS this was on a Colt Government .45 the CL went 300,000 rds and no real difference in groupings the SS was shot out after 130,000 rds now that's a lot of shooting. In other words SS more accurate, but the CL will last longer. But who out there shoots that many rounds in any of their guns. personal preference I guess!
J my wife also get a lot of guns that she doesn't know she wants, and I figure that if she doesn't like them their mine

Hey all I pick up my rifle today and will get my scope on Monday :)

I have the Pmag that came with it and a DPMS mag, both work fine, I have not fired it yet, but doing the checks in the owners manual it work with both mags

OUTSTANDING Turbo !!! Another man makes it under the wire and we've got a new CHRISTENED member to the family. :twothumbs:

Great grab and we'll all be looking forward to the range reports. Make sure you check out Moby's post about ammo done by "Lucky Gunner" - just in case you were on the fence about ammo. It's well worth a look.

Enjoy it Turbo. Great stuff man... :)

Heck, no rush Turbo. It was a month before I made it to the range with mine. The main thing is that now you have it and you can take your time from here. One in the hand is worth, well, at LOT at the moment....

Other than rails, what other items are on your wish list??
