I'm new to the Forum and Armalite and it's policies, But I haven't found any reference to Armalite ever offering any type of discount to LE/Military personnel. I have to believe that there is a history on this topic. Could you guys fill me in please?

I personally like it they companies do so. On the other hand its not easy to prove. Home Depot and Lowes both offer military discount and if the cashier does NOT ask for my ID I let them know that they are insulting military when they do not ask for it.

With that in mind how does a company know you are military? What send in a copy of your DD 214, ID Card or??????? I hope ArmaLite does and I also hope they DEMAND proof. I gave my blood, my sweat, my tears and a hellva lot more and I earned my military discount, please demand proof of it...

Photocopying a U.S. Government identification card is a violation of Title 18, U.S. Code Part I, Chapter 33, Section 701 and punishable by fine and imprisonment. Never allow anyone to photocopy your military ID/CAC under any circumstances. The only exception are agencies of the federal government.

I never thought about that but you are right. I wonder how stores like usstandardissue.com get around that?

I'm sure they get around it because they aren't even aware the law exists. Next time they ask for a copy of your ID, point them to the law, then ask, "Now what?"

While fotocopying is illegal and in order to get the military discount you must show proof then we run into the age old problem of:

YOU cannot have it BOTH ways!

In addition retirees have to provide their ID card to healthcare agencies to show proof of healthcare eligibility so the card gets copied all the time everytime you change healthcare providers. Maybe the other option is to go thru the sign up process each time you and your family go see the doctor...but then that too may cause a delay in seeing the doctor. As in we have to get that approved and confirmed.

This now becomes what is known as" "Catch 22"

Now me, well I just let COMMON sense prevail, but then that is just me, your gasoline mileage may be different. :cowboy:

I've run into a few stubborn people, but find most are truly understanding once I show them a copy of the law. Most simply aren't aware the law exists.

In those rare instances where people insist on being a Beavis or Butthead; I've provided signed affidavit notarized by a Notary Public, in lieu of my Mil ID. The affidavit clearly explains it is illegal to photocopy any federal government ID; provides a quote of Title 18 with url); provides all relevant information found on the ID, and is followed by a statement from the Notary. If they insist on breaking the law vice accepting the affidavit, I tell them the State Attorney General's Office will be contacting them shortly. Haven't lost a round yet.

Truth be known. I haven't reached the age where I've had to deal with healthcare agencies on a regular basis as mentioned. But I look forward to that challenge as well when the day arrives.
