A poster over at ARFCOM has suggested I would get better performance out of my factory Armalite two-stage tactical trigger by upgrading the springs to JP enterprise's springs. JP recommends their RED trigger spring and their YELLOW sear spring.
JP claims there is unlikely to be much difference with stock parts. But the two-stage armalite isn't quite a stock part.
Would this give me much of an improvement over the factory springs? The trigger is presently heavy, but crisp. I haven't yet honed it per Armalite's tech notes, or even switched the springs legs to the lighter position.
How critical are the springs, and should they make a noticeable difference in the feel of the trigger and the group size?
I put that Armalite tactical 2 stage in my new AR10 NM
lower build and i did not like the second stage pull at all.
I had it on the lightest side too.
But i do benchrest type paper punching with it.So i took it out and put a RRA NM 2 stage in.I used the hammer spring off the Armalite
hammer ,don't know if it was needed but did anyway. On my Lyman electronic gauge i have 3lb 9oz on second stage and love it.It shoots great and no trouble even with LC MX80 or M118 and other factory stuff.I put the Armalite trigger FCG in my AR15 SBR and its good for that rifle.
Funny that this thread is active again, as I just played 'musical chairs' with three s in three guns.
My brother's department decided all of a sudden that the Giessele two-stage DMR that I installed in his Colt wasn't approved (yes the $279 one). So I got a screaming deal on it, and planned to put it in my "T".
Well, it didn't drop in like it did in the Colt. On the Colt, there was a little whittling required on the safety selector. On the AR-10, it wouldn't drop the hammer at all. I could have had it 'smithed', but I chose the path of least resistance:
I dropped it in my DPMS 20" bull-barreled 5.56 gun, took that gun's RRA 2 stage tactical and put it in the AR10T, then took the Armalite two-stage, adjusted it per tech notes, and put it in my dedicated CA lower, a Yankee Hill with a carbine stock that has an (ARGGGHHHH) bullet button.
I haven't actually fired the Armalite trigger YHM lower since installing and adjusting the spring and the spring position, but it seems great, no creep, probably just under 5lbs, and crisp.
There is one more thing I could do before trying a different spring, according to Armalite, and that is to adjust the spring legs a second time.
But, five pounds is not bad, especially for a carbine. I may just leave it.
BTW, the Giesselle is really nice, but not 180 dollars nicer than the RRA. Unless I REALLY needed adjustability, I wouldn't pay retail for one, no way.

I have a Giessile NM 2 stage in my AR15 RRA Predator Pursuit.
Its a great trigger but sorta spendy.
