I think Phil was passed out, hard to say :)

I just got done cleaning the 10 and it was a pleasure! Very little carbon in the action and almost none in the barrel. There were a few streaks of copper that I could see from the muzzle so I cleaned the barrel as usual then ran a few patches soaked in Sweets 7.62 and all of the copper came right out, no scrubbing! I've never had copper fouling come out so easily. I had about 150 rounds through it. Another nice surprise!

Great information and you answered a lot of the questions I had about this AR. I'm interested in purchasing one myself in .260. Do you have any suggestions for what I can expect to pay for something like yours?

I paid $1689 for mine last year at my local gun shop, they had to order the rifle from Armalite and I waited about 3 months. They are much more available now. There is one listed on gunbroker for $1629 right now. So I guess to answer your question, between $1600-1700 would be a fair price and the going rate. If you want the same scope and bipod you can add about $2K more. I will say that if you do get this rifle you will not be disappointed. After using it for about a year now, I probably have 500 rounds through it, all handloads. Now that its broken in, the rifle shoots most loads at 1" or less, hot or cold. I have several loads that are at .5" at 100yds for a 5 shot group and it would probably do better with a better shooter. I'll post some recent groups as soon as my camera charges. It likes 130-142gr bullets with slow powders such as IMR 4350, RL22, H4831, VVN560 the best. The quality of the rifle is great, no problems at all including magazines (I have about 20, from Armalite, mostly 20 and 25 rounders, Armalite was running specials last year on 5 and 10 packs :) ). I would be happy to answer any other questions you might have.

I have been shooting a wilson combat 6.8 recon with an 18 inch barrell for about a year. the gun is just great. just wanted something with a bit more long range performance, so after months of research purchased an AR10T,,damm I love this armalite,,the only problem is after stocking up on 6.8 ammo,,about 2000 rounds,,it's back to stocking up on 308,,ouch..because you can never have to much ammo..live out here in Colorado,my wife and I spend our summer weekends camping in pike national forest and we go through a lot of ammo..yes we can still shoot in our national forest out here without any real problems.

I will add that with the 260 handloading is almost mandatory. There are more manufacturers loading the ammo than ever, but the selection is still limited. It is also scarce in the stores, I have yet to see a box on the shelf at my gunstore. I don't know if you plan to hunt or shoot targets. If you are only hunting there is a good selection of ammo but the match ammo selection is still very limited. The prices are also outrageous IMHO, some of it rivals 300 Rem Ultra Mag prices, $35-60 a box  . I can load 5 boxes of match/hunting ammo with the same bullet and new brass for the price of 2-3 boxes of factory and you can reuse the brass which is kinda pricy as well (.50-$1+ each). You can also neck up 243 win brass which has given me excellent results at a lower cost(no "doughnut" so far after 3 full power loadings with remington brass). Not at all trying to steer you away from this excellent and underappreciated cartridge, just a thought echoed by many on the 260 and something to be aware of; I personally wouldn't have mine any other way ;)

Some more groups from the past few months, not sure if this a demonstration of the rifle or my lack of ability with it

Thanks for sharing AR260rem. I have a 10T 260 also and wanted to ask if you have had any luck with 100gr bullet wights. Ive loaded over 200 round with Varget, IMR 4046, Benchmark, H4831, and IMR3031 but cannot get a one inch 5 shot group for the life of me. I have managed 1.3 inch group. If Im not mistaken Armalite tuned the rifle for 120 to 140 grain ammo and with my AR 260 it will shoot sub moa with 140,s all day but the 100 grain loads are just a pleasure to shoot all day long. Thanks for any advise.

Hello and welcome to the site!

I tried the 100gr Nosler Ballistic Tip, 95gr V-Max, 107 Sierra MK, and 108 Lapua Scenars with RL19 and couldn't get the rifle to cycle 100%. I even have some 85gr Sierras that I haven't tried yet. This was about a year ago and I recently discovered the gun will now tolerate some powders that it didn't before. I guess it just needed broken in. Anyways, I quit on those lighter loads before I had much data. I do recall some of those bullets did cycle with H4831/H4350 but the velocity was just OK and I could get within 150 FPS with the 120-123gr bullets. I can't tell you how accurate the loads were because I lost most of my targets after a flood in my basement last spring. I do recall shooting a small water bottle at 100 yards with the 95gr V-Max and I hit it dead center. I guess it was at least Minute of Water Bottle :)

I also think you are right about the gun being tuned for 120-140 ammo, especially the 140-142. That 1:8 barrel is pretty quick for the light bullets.

Have you tried the 120-123gr bullets like the Sierra MK, Lapua, Berger, A-Max, or Nosler 120/123? I find they shoot a little softer than the 140s and are very accurate and have a high B.C. (.450-.550) My gun shoots them almost as well as the 140s, under MOA for sure. Their are also a large number of powders that shoot these bullets well.

I may have to revisit the lighter bullets after I get my new reloading press as my other finally broke and my regular rifle loading is on hold for now.

I will post any results for you when I get some more data.

Good luck with your AR 260!

Hello everyone. I had a chance to fire off some rounds this weekend in the AR-10T 260 and finaly found a load with the 100gr that will shoot under an inch. Nosler 100's and IMR 4064 are a great match that can produce half inch groups. I also had some luck with Sierra 107's and AR-COMP. My velocity with the AR-Comp wasnt that great with an accuracy load but they were consistant. No malfunctions of any kind were found. This realy surprised me becouse I just could not find a load that would work with 100 grain bullets. I also want to thank AR260rem for offering help in my situation.
