Anyone have one yet?

I'm looking for a flat shooting 6-6.5mm rifle, but haven't decided whether to go with a semi-auto or another bolt gun.

Maybe I'll have to search for one of these and be the first to try one out. Probably my turn.....

Just got mine on 1/25, ordered in early November. It appears to be well worth the wait from the outstanding quality of the finish and machine work. I am going to break it in this weekend, I would be happy to post the results afterwards.

One thing I've already found out is the throat is short in this rifle. I can touch the rifling at between 2.775-2.800" OAL with a couple of different match bullets. I am quite pleased that this is possible especially with VLD bullets. I am going to try my loads just touching and .050 off. I'll post the results and load data if that is ok on this forum. I know some forums dont like anyone posting load data, but I would be happy to share if anyone would like it with the accuracy results.

I also weighed it with the scope and bipod, a whopping 14lbs 6oz. No lightweight for sure, but probably will kick like a varmint gun lol.

Is the throat length the same with all of the AR-10Ts in other calibers, as in you can get close or touch the rifling while loading at magazine length?

Here are the results of todays testing. Conditions were not very good for shooting groups (swirling wind, gusts to 15-20mph)and I was also having a tough time keeping a consistent hold and preload on my bipod with all of the heavy clothing I was wearing but I am pleased withthe results. These are the best groups and the load info. I'm positive there is plenty of room for improvement.

The gun is particular about what powders will cycle it. It functioned great with RL-19 and H4350, but would not cycle with Benchmark or H414. I was somwhat suprised about H414 since it is only slightly faster in burn speed than H4350. It seems that Armalite tuned the gas system towards slower powders which IMO is a good thing. I will try more loads with H4350, RL-19, and IMR/H4831. I may also get some Hodgdon Hybrid 100V and VV N550.

Bullet wise I tried a variety today from the 95gr V-Max to the 140gr SMK. I couldn't get the rifle to cycle with either the 95gr V-Max or the 107gr SMK. I loaded Benchmark with both so my guess is the powder speed is too fast, not the bullet being too light. The rounds would eject but not pick up a new cartridge. I am going to try both with H4350. I had the same problem with the 139 Secenar and H414. I included a group with that load anyways to show the potential of the bullet. The one shot I threw out was because when I shot it, the rifle didnt cycle and I gave up on that load. I decided to finish the group about 75 shots later just to see what the bullet could do.

Velocity with the 95 and 107gr light bullet loads were 3250 and 3150FPS. Accuracy was about 1.5" with both loads.

I would also say that the rifle prefers the heavier bullets, not a surprise though with it's 1:8 barrel.

Recoil was very mild as would be expected and the brass was consistently ejected 5-6ft every time. Made picking up my brass very easy, it was in a nice pile.

I will post more results as I get them, if you have any questions let me know.

All groups were shot at 105yds from a bipod and rear sandbag. Temperature was 29 degrees.

Thanks for the report!

How is the gun treating the brass? Which brass are you using? Have you found or tried any of the new Lapua .260 brass?

The rifle is pretty gentle on brass, overall cases are in excellect condition after firing. I used Remington and Nosler brass. I also weight sorted the Rem brass. I havent tried the Lapua brass, do they make it in 260 or are you reforming 308 or 243? I did get some Rem 243 to reform due the higher cost of the 260 brass. Might try some reforming some Winchester 243, had pretty good results with Win brass in 223 and 308.

All of the groups I posted used Remington except for the 139 Secenar group in which I used Nosler. I did get some brass flow into the ejector hole with mid to upper end loads. I even observed slight flow with just above starting loads on some combos. I am going to seat the bullets a little deeper on my next batch of ammo to give the bullets a little longer run into the rifling due to the short throat. My sighter loads (140 Nos comp) were some of the most accurate I fired that day and the bullets were seated .060 off the lands.

Here are some pics of the fired cases.

Looks great! I may have to get me one of these!

Lapua just started making .260 brass, so it may not have made it into stores yet. Might be able to order it on-line somewhere.

Cool, I'll be on the lookout for it. I just bought some VV N550 and N560, it would be sweet to have a Lapua case and bullet with the VV powder. I do like the Nosler cases though and found them to be very good in 308 Win and the 300 RUM. I have 50 more loaded up with the 139 Secenar and H4350 and H4831 and will let you know when I get a chance to test them. Once the blizzard leaves that is
