Armalite AR15s

I realize this is an AR10 forum, and I do have one. However, I'm also thinking of buying an AR15 mousegun from Armalite. I'm thinking about one of the rifles with a stainless barrel, free floated, with no sights, for a scope. I'd be interested in hearing from any owners with respect to accuracy, quality and reliability. I'm very happy with the AR10, and think the quality is great. However the AR15 market is full of manufacturers, so there are many more AR15 platforms to compare to. They range in price from bargain to big bucks, and reputations seem to vary too. Just wanted to hear from Armalite AR15 owners who might also have experience with other AR15s. Thanks!

Well Hank...I will sound off and step up... :woohoo:
I bought my M-15 back in late April..early may, Now granted I have only put about 150 rounds through it...which is real easy to do... but so far to date I have had no issues....and it has performed with flawless precision.....and reliability....
and it's cheaper to shoot....

I hear you on the "cheaper to shoot". I'm even thinking of buying a S&W M&P .22LR AR. I've had some guys tell me they're great fun, and well made. But back to the Armalite M15. I'm glad to hear you're happy with it. From what I've seen on the AR15.com forum, Armalite isn't necessarily considered the "best", but certainly not the worst. But no one is clear on "why". I'm still trying to figure out why someone would want to spend $2500 for an AR15 from Bill Wilson, Les Bauer or Noveske, rather than $1200 for one from Armalite. And what sets even Armalite apart from those selling for $700? I'd be very happy with one that's super reliable, durable, and able to shoot near MOA with a good scope.

I have a ar 15 armalite had it a couple of years 700 rounds or more it shoots great. My son bought a rock river he likes it but for me I am a armalite fan. I put a quad rail prizmatic scope light and handle on mine really nice setup for home protection. I do rapid fire mine as well and never had any issues. Prices have normalized now is not a bad time to shop for a armalite.

I think you are right Hank....The only real difference is "What"...
I have seen many of them....I guess it all depends on what they come with.....ArmaLite makes a fine 15, in researching them when I went to buy one....I found that ArmaLite offered what I wanted....all the rest you had to order it....which in turn upped the price...I had a thread on this somewhere...anyhow....There is a spec chart which portrays all the "mil-spec" options....and if I remember right...It gives all the Top "15s" on the market.....I believe that Colt was the highest rated....as far as "mil-spec"....if that is what you are looking for....and the name of course..the lower end ones, for 750..Del-Ton is a good one for that....are just that...low end...I, again, guess it is all up to the choice. I personally want a rifle for what it will do not the name or the cost...well cost is important...The ArmaLite M-15 has many faces to suit the shooter...even the M-15 T....if you want a "Target Rifle"...and even different calibers...so...there are alot to choose from.....
I bought mine on the fact that it WAS or IS what I wanted for options....I wanted a Combat type rifle....and that is the one I have...of course I built it abit...with parts from MI but now It is my "go to gun"....if need be...
You should look into one further...if you where in the area....I would let you "test drive" mine to see what you think....I think you would like it.....

This past weekend I shot in a day-long 3 gun match. I shot my AR10, Rem 870 and Glock 30. I didn't shoot very well, but had a lot of fun. Reminded me why I should practice more, particularly with the 870, work on reloads, etc. But back to the issue of AR15s. I didn't get to look at all the brands represented, but I was surprised at the number of malfunctions. Failures to feed, failures to extract, and things coming loose were the main ones. My top priority for any gun I own (except collector guns, antiques, etc.) is absolute reliability. If it doesn't go "bang" every time I pull the trigger, I get rid of it. Accuracy and ergonomics come in 2nd. That's why I'm taking time to consider the choices in ARs before I buy one. I'm probably the last serious gun guy in America who doesn't already own an AR15. I've favored the AR10, M1A and Mini-14, but I'm about to join the Mattel mousegun club too. I'm probably looking for a moderate barrel twist rate, simply because I have thousands of rounds of 5.56 with 55gr bullets on hand, and virtually none with heavier bullets. Anyone care to comment on how the really fast twist barrels work with the lighter 55gr bullets?

Hank...look at it this way...you own an AR-10 right...you belong to a AR-10 site with a factory rep as a member...well what better place to be and better brand to buy....
well it makes sense to me anyway

but really, I love my little M-15...it came with the heavy barrel...not one of those M-4 style..and as I said...my AR-10 has served me well...so.

I must admit, I'm leaning toward the Armalite family of rifles. Looks like good value for money, and the quality of my AR10 is very good. It goes bang every time I pull the trigger, and is accurate to boot.

Exactly. I went Armalite and will stay Armalite just for that reason. Uncle Armalite is trolling the forum and has helped tons of people out with issues and is a super laision with the company. Lifetime warrante that is actually honored. Good quality and good service. Cant go wrong.

Well said aggie...You get a cookie...
Seriously...good show... B)
Hank...I spent better part of 3 months...tossing it around...even asked some friends of mine...well used to, anyway...the point being...I look at the other brands and ArmaLite's M-15 A4 CB had all I wanted on it...and as I said...I already have an AR-10 and it preforms outstandingly, well for my needs at least..but we all have to make up our own minds...So look at what you want in the rifle, then decide...and as aggie said...Life time warranty.
The only real gripe I have...but this is on me...I am so used to cleaning my AR-10...that cleaning my 15 is a pain.....parts are much smaller...hahahahahahahahaha other than that, it is a perfect picture of a weapon....
Aggie...once again....good show ol' chap. B)
