AR-10 T Break In Period

I am planning to break in my new Armalite T's per break in instructions. However, I was thinking of getting some cheaper German Made NATO 7.62x51 rounds for this inital break in for my AR10. They are nickle coated FMJs. I read posts that the AR10-T will eat em up no problem. Just wondered if it was ok to break in the AR10-T's barrel with em? Not worried about accuracy...grouping etc...just break in (will be using quality ammo fot accuracy/hunting).

Nickel coated bullets eh? That's a first for me. Post a pic if you can. I wouldn't think you would need a lot of cleaning. I wonder what the advertised muzzle velocity is? It's the copper that smears and needs to be cleaned/taken off the bore. I would wonder if the nickel would cause marginally more wear than copper... if used extensively...

While we're on the subject of barrel break-in, mmsshh what is your suggestion for a fire/cleaning regimen for new barrel break-in? You said shoot then clean for the first 30-50 rounds. Is that shoot then clean after each shot for 30 to 50 rounds? And what about the Tubb Final Finish? Is one enough? After 50 rounds? Sooner?
Thanks

Hey Brian, I am not trying to over step MSH, but a couple of things that I did..........One, use a high grade standard ammo....Like Hornady...168 gr and stay with it till your barrel gets seasoned...
Two, (I am going to pay for this one...LOL) I followed what the manual gave for break-in instructions to the letter....as if I were breaking in a MATCH barrel....it is long and tedious process, but in the end you will be happy with the results....I can put a round dam near 0 MOA at a 100 yards with a stock 16" barrel....so this is just a suggestion....You might give it some thought....

Thanks mmsshh. I am already using the Montana X-treme on my guns, so used to working with it and no problem. The Tubb TMS is something I'm not familiar with but just did some reading on. Since Armalite pushes these as 'Triple Lapped' barrels to begin with, you'll have to tell me how bad the machine marks are when you scope it and if I need to start with the heavier grit (#1 for a stock factory barrel) or the #3 (for use when starting with a hand lapped barrel and throat maintenance). Just let me know. Doing the cleaning between shots is easy enough.
Thanks again,
Laughing Elk
