Raw deal on shipping from Armalite

So I ordered a set of vise blocks for the upper from Armalite - $53.00.

Armalite charged me $26.17 for shipping from IL to Hawaii. Half the price of the product. Bull....

Order placed on the 5th and not processed until the 14th.

I even asked in the comments section for them to please ship USPS priority flat rate if available. It would have cost them about 5 bucks... and saved me 20. They could have shipped two internationally for that price.

My first rant. Booyah

Most odd.

I bought an AR10t after a year the magazine latch broke. I called Armalite explained the problem, two days later the part arrived, no cost.
Bought an AR10 a4, carbine, second hand that would not feed more there three rounds before jamming. Called Armalite, they said ship it back. Tens days two weeks later it came back, no cost other then me shipping it back. Ohh the carbine works great.
What I am curious about, most companies make the customer pay the shipping, was there some mis-communication on how fast the item was to be shipped.

See now you see that's sorta funny. Because they don't offer USPS as a shipping option.

So I called and this is the way it was explained to me...

All firearms and parts will go out UPS. All billing, correspondences, and catalog requests go out USPS.

Now the reasoning behind this was or is that UPS has a tracking number automatically and USPS does not. You have to pay more for that.

So for insurance purposes, it will be shipped UPS.

and I might add my friend, remember even MI said it would cost more to ship to you....and I will add another, not all companies offer standard mail either...
There are some draw backs to living in paradise. ;)

I dunno, I guess I'm just all effed up. I just can't seem to get my head around having to ship something with insurance that is a small piece of polymer, and couldn't weigh more than a few pounds, and charge the customer nearly half of what it cost just to get it to them.

Also, I just called to order a 5 pack of 20 round mags, and the guy on the phone quoted me $18 to ship to me.

For the record, for a shooting enthusiast, this is not paradise just because of that. I always have to order parts and accessories from the internet, which means that I can't look at anything more than browsing pictures and asking good people like you questions(thanks for humoring them by the way). There's only one range that's open for non-military, with a 50 and 100 yard rifle line(I'm fortunate to be able to go to the Military ranges, with some coordination). No concealed carry permits issued, and crazy gun laws. The only animals to hunt on this island are pigs and goats.
Paradise? Perhaps if you like to surf, fish or sit in traffic, but not for me. Send me back to the mainland... Don't get me wrong this is a beautiful place with great people and a lot of natural beauty that you won't find anywhere else on the world, but it just isn't for me. Great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live here.

End rant.

Hey my friend, everyone has had it happen....I paid 8 bucks once for a $3 part...tell me that wouldn't  you off..

I was going to say, I meant no offense, and I looked at their web site...as with most, it gives you a final bill to approve...I can only figure that you where excited in the moment and missed the final charge....as for the insurance, well that is another thing that is "Better to have and not need, than need and not have."
If it gets lost or ripped off, they will replace it..
As for the Paradise part, I have heard many main-landers say the same thing....but it is someplace I wish I could go at least once..in my life...but hey there is the grand canyon too... :silly:
A big hole in the ground..... :woohoo:

i am sorry to hear of your bad experience with the shipping, but in my experience with armalite i have nothing but good things to say, they answer every one of my voice messages with a personal phone call, and have made repairs quickly for a fair price, with quality craftminship.
i wish more companies had their type of customer service,to bad they dont make cars and trucks.

I guess I should just attribute it to living in Hawaii.
