You mention REM and I have to bring this up or out because a lot of people do not know... so here it is.
Remingtons AR style rifles are made by Bushmaster (15 series)and DPMS (25 series).
Cerberus Capital Management owns... Firearms - Acquired Bushmaster Firearms, Inc., from Windham, Maine native Dick Dyke for an undisclosed sum in April 2006, and purchased Remington Arms in April 2007. Under Cerberus direction, Bushmaster Firearms acquired Cobb Manufacturing, a well-respected manufacturer of large-caliber tactical rifles in August 2007. Cerberus also acquired DPMS Panther Arms December 14, 2007. Remington Arms acquired Marlin Firearms in January 2008. In October 2009, Remington Military products acquired silencer manufacturer Advanced Armament Corporation. These companies were combined into the Freedom Group.
Rem's group MFG capacity far larger than every one else, so parts availability is better. The heavy upper is the key to customizing later on.MSH
What is justification for this? And how do you figure it?
Why is it that you think or say that Rem's upper is heavier? I've held them both and comparied them. Other than some cuts and angles, it is'nt any heavier than an ArmaLite.
Now if we want to go into the history... we'll go there too, in another thread.
SO how are CMMG recivers, what are the pros and cons ? I did notice they seem thicker in some areas,i just like to get the most info i can so i can make a good choice.
POF makes an excellent AR10 (.308) lower. I believe its Billet the one sold over ar Rainier Arms. Personally I have and use Billet lowers for my AR10 builds. IRA (Iron Ridge Arms) carries one of the best Billet's I've seen. There are others though that will do the job (Forged).
