I WANT TO BUILD A .308 AND WAS WONDERING WHAT LOWER IS BEST ON THE MARKET THEN THEN NEXT BEST. I KNOW THAT WHATEVER LOWER I GET I NEED TO BUY THE SAME MANUFACTURE FOR THE PARTS.DO I NEED TO DO THE SAME FOR THE CARRIER,BOLT AND BARRELL ASSMEBLY AND MAGS ALSO? IM ALSO WONDER WHAT AR-15 PARTS WILL WORK LIKE ANY OF THE STOCKS AND ETC?
Well AZSNIPER i personally would go with Armalite or DPMS. I think those two BCG's are interchangible, MSH please correct me if i am wrong  And welcome to the group!!! You came to the right place for any of your AR10 Questions! I am sure there will be many more people chime in on this one
Well, I would say ArmaLite but that's because that's all I have in the AR10s and I am most pleased. I have no experience with the others so I can't talk bad about them...except Knights because they are sooooo expensive for what others are selling for one half the price. I'll put my "Little ArmaLite" up against any KAC on the range...(even though it does have a KAC trigger in it)...(A darn fine trigger by the way).
As far as parts go there are some that are pretty much generic as far as I know between the AR-15 and AR10... important stuff like triggers, for one. Check out that site that mrraley posted. I
Like i said before i am not sure if the BCG's are interchangeable. Msh should be along sometime to set me straight either way on that one...but hey then all of us will know the truth
Well what ever you do...AZ, stay away from Knights Armament...they suck....Not so much the weapons, well , but the customer service, there is none....I mean none...
Someone said something to me about Reed Knight and it made alot of sense....can't repeat it on the open web, but after looking into it, just don't buy one of those.....
I know what my teacher says, but I do like my ArmaLite, even if it is hard to get some aftermarket parts for it...and they won't except the Magpul mags, but that is about to change...the mag thing...anyway, look around and decide...I bought my ArmaLite after doing some research on the different companies and as I stated in my article, they are the fore runner of the AR-10...that is where Stoner Started out...so again you decide. So far to date, mine has served me well...

so if i am reading correctly armalite is ok but has some capatability issuses and bushmaster dpms would be better to use for a build.what mags do each manufacture uses or do the make there own?

OK, let me put this into perspective....
I did the research on the various rifles including the AR-15...I wanted a wall puncher as in the poster.....but in reality, the AR-10 is not for CQB...so, it is a hard hitting long range but kicking weapon that can do the job required of it and more...for the most part...given the initial design....as for what companies to go with...I chose the ArmaLite for many reasons...and I did find that it can be a challenge to out fit...as for the mags, well that is not that big of an issue as I make it out to be...I like my steel mags over the polymer anyway...I was pissed because magpul left us out...
YOU have to decide what you want....the AR-10---ArmaLite has been combat tested, not to sure about the others...So that to ME was a deciding factor as well. As with some of the other issues...every company has them....Example...Bushnell...alot of people say good things about them....me----THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!!!! So I probably will not buy one of their products again....see where I am going...
I will say, I had an issue with my AR-10 when I first bought it...the extractor was fried...I called them, they said send it back, I did, week and a half I had it back...and it has worked great ever since...so..MY issue with that was, if that had gone out to a serviceman or been a immediate use weapon, their could have been some problems....but again, STUFF happens, I guess, hell I thought it was my luck, I always find the ones like that...but they did make it right so...better than KAC would have...
I don't know if any of this helps...do you buy an ArmaLite or not..I can't make that up for you....I will tell you this...What ever you go with for a AR-10..or type, you are welcome here...
