GFM in Austria will tool you up for under 2 mil depending on your needs. agfm.com. The hammer fordging process was developed in Germany during WW2 as a way to produce barrels in high numbers. If you want a really accurate barrel you will dig through more than 10 blanks to find that one sweet barrel, and that's on pretty new equipment. This is why you will hear of a factory rifle that shoots unusually well every so often. Hammer fordging is a better process if you can find that sweet blank. Do you know how much weight the side charging handle adds to the bolt? I ask because on my project recoil is an issue. To tame it some I was going to use a Tubb CS Buffer Spring in conjunction with their CWS(Carrier Weight System) that slows the bolt down. Has anyone used either of these products with good results?
