That looks like the Tubb CWS. Not quite as popular these days as they once were, now that heavy buffers are available. Certainly not a bad thing to have.

I can see why it's not a bad thing to have and I imagine I will keep it.
The only drawback to it is every time I open up the receiver the weight falls out and hits the ground :naughty:
On the front of the magazine well (the 1" wide portion), is there a white stamp of an eagle and three stars over it's head?
As for the weight... get rid of it. The AR-10 BCG is heavy enough and doesn't need extra weight. Besides that, you said it falls out when you open the rifle anyway.
On the barrel, I have not seen ArmaLite release an 18" barrel on standard production rifles... yet.
Send me a PM with the serial number and I will be able to find out when and how it left the factory. Just no signed paper as proof though.
I would be interested in why the guy did that to begin with, or why HE thought it needed to be done. Was he trying to solve a problem, thought it would make things better???? who knows

Yes Sir a box with an eagle and 3 stars over it's head.

I have never heard of it either especially one as heavy as this one .870 right behind the threads
Thanks mrraley PM on it's way
Rick, you will find the knowledge available on this forum is as good as it gets, most of all you do not have to wade thru 1000's of experts and self appointed authorities on the AR. Many of which if you told them to remove the butt plate they would drop their drawers.
